From what I've read, the only danger in Heroin (other than drug interaction, preexisting conditions, as with any drug) is overdosing. Are there any other dangers? I'm not necessarily thinking of taking it, I'm just kind of curious about opiates and such. :sunny:

Ahh that's really sad. Other than adulterants/unexpected additions, if you say know a cook/chemist, are there any other dangers?

of course there are other dangers. You can use a needle that some filthy bum with Hepatitis or some other disease has used and contract it yourself

No, straight up Heroin's only main danger's is as a CNS depressant that is highly addictive physiologically.
It is the added bullshit of adulterants/questionable sources, unsanitary delivery methods and uncontrolled quality/potency that pose the greatest danger.
Essentially all the crap forced upon the user by the substance being illegal account for the majority of direct risks to health and safety from heroin use.

    Alright, thanks for the input!

So pretty much responsible use is safe? (clean needle, sure of dose, no adulterants, etc.)

100% pure heroin, administered cleanly, without preexisting conditions and drug combinations is 100% safe. The only danger is addiction.

Well I don't know that I would go that far.

One other problem with heroin is that it just feels so damn good that it can be difficult for a lot of people to maintain "responsible" usage levels or frequency, then by that time physical addiction has set in, so now your kinda in for a fucked ride either way you go.:(

In my opinion it's not worth the risk overall.

OMG you sound like you were born yesterday. Sure, it's safe, if you don't count severe addiction. Haven't you read any of the autobiographies of rock stars who were sure they could handle it? Hell, even Jerry Garcia, Captain Trips, was sure he could handle it.

Any drug is potentially dangerous, though some are more so than others. Any of the hardcore stuff, like heroine, is of course very dangerous.

Hepatitis, AIDS, dealing with dubious people, od's, stealing, and possibly ending up sucking dick in an alley at 2am for a fix. Yeah, it can be pretty dangerous. I don't really know anyone that has been able to avoid addiction by just "chipping", although that doesn't mean it's not possible. But it's probably no worse than crack, if that means anything, lol. But man, opiates not only kill pain but they induce such a calm, peaceful state of euphoria, which is an ideal combo if you're hurt. It's like God played a joke on us.

Who sounds like they were just born yesterday? The sheer fact that I'm asking shows that I'm not completely sure. I'm just curious, of course Heroin is generally thought of as extremely dangerous, I just wanted to see if that was a myth like half of the things you hear about drugs.

I think I know what you're saying. I grew up in the '60's, when a lot of people in the US were freaking out about anything to do with the counterculture, including drugs. There was a panic over lsd, for example. People jumping off buildings trying to fly, permanent insanity, spiked halloween candy, etc. Even marijuana was demonized. And for the most part all this was a bunch of bullshit. The world was changing, and it scared some people, so there was kind of a knee-jerk reaction to certain things. But heroin actually is dangerous. Not just the addictive nature of the drug itself, but the dangers of contaminated needles, the social environment surrounding it, and of course the fact that it's illegal and can get you thrown in jail. Anything that can turn you into a slave to it or lead to a fatal disease can't be good for you. So, there's really no myth about this drug, it's bad news.

I've been using heroin for 5 years now, now if you have an addicting personality its the worst drug to ever take. If you have NO tolerance to opiates just stick to percs and roxis and what not. I went from doing pills, bingING and being able to stop and just not use. After about 30 days of straight everyday heroin use I tried sleeping one night and couldnt and finally realized I was going through withdrawls. Besides the w/d I've been using opiates all together for 10 years and really dont have any nasty side effects from it YET. But like I said i didnt really become physically daily use addicted until I did it daily for over a month and that was 5 years ago. So for almost five years, off and on more ON THEN OFF, I've been using. The way I look at it, I am can tell you not to do it, but if you are going to do it, hell your going to do it. I am actually going through YET another cold turkey detox, I've done it so many times I'm used to it, and at the same time I'm not heh. My ADVICE don't fuck with it, if you want to know how it feels eat a perc, eat a roxi. Because unless you shooting dope, there is no difference in feeling.

Also why is opiates in the psychedelic section?

I don't know. Pharmaceuticals and "other drugs" are too. Maybe it's just not considered an important enough topic to justify it's own heading on the main menu, like marijuana.
