It's bad for you if it triggers latent psychosis or some kind of negative reaction I suppose. Everyone has a different body that processes substances in a unique way. Some people just don't vibe with DMT. I suppose the only way to know is to try it. You vaporize it in a vaporgenie or volcano/ssv/dabuddha type electronic vaporizer. If you don't like life-altering, powerful, experiences that are confusing and completely foreign to this reality then don't take DMT.
You should check out the book The Spirit Molecule, by Rick Strassman. It's available for download as a PDF too.
I think he means if it's bad for you. Not if it would be too intense for me. As for as health wise, I'm not sure. I'm positive that smoking anything, ever vapor such as DMT isn't good. If you haven't done it, be careful. Do your homework on the drug.
No. Smoking it is probably not worse than having a truck drive by while you are on the sidewalk. It can really make you have a powerful experience, but it's gone so fast that I would think it is much less likely than other, longer lasting, psychedelics to cause problems with latent psychological issues.
I thought the brevity of the DMT trip was sort of a safety against experiencing lingering longer term psychological issues as well until my most recent DMT trip. Essentially what I'm experiencing is depression and I would be experiencing it to a degree anyways had I not smoked DMT due to circumstance but the source of my depression was the source of incredibly powerful joy during my DMT trip a day prior, so the emotional whiplash from DMT to reality has been difficult to deal with for me, giving how abstract the DMT trip is overall further drives my current disillusionment. Overall a good set and setting will most likely provide a quality trip without much psychological harm but don't assume that because it has a short duration that it doesn't have the potential to affect the psyche beyond the trip, not to mention that some people experience bad/unpleasant trips with it. DMT is a very powerful trip.
Me and a friend dappled into the world of DMT.. we ingested it... it took a bit to go into affect... but when it did I wish it hadn't... I am thinking you must be completely mentally prepared, and have no stress going on. We had both just went through a lot, and we were completely agitated. I could see how people would enjoy this drug however.. it is REALLY powerful. and quite amazing... time goes SO slow, and if you are listening to music, its almost as if you have a song on repeat, time goes that slow..lol .. and it lasted for 6 hours.... Moods are also contagious while on DMT... you become completely empathetic. So if you have a Debby or Donny Downer around.. boot them..lol We had a friend sober to watch over us.. and he got awfully pissy (he didnt show it, I could just feel it).. and it made me want to punch him..ha ha (but I am not a fighter so I just asked him as nice as possible to go home ha ha) I decided once I could actually get past the "OMG IM DYING!" feeling, to walk into the bathroom and look in the mirror... yea.. I didn't look like me at all.. it was almost as if I was a smeared painting! ha ha.. needless to say that was a bad idea and I went back to our "safe room" <---- my bedroom where we stayed the whole time.. as walking did not come to easily for me or her..lmao A good plan for my next time (if I can ever brave up enough FOR a next time) I will have someone who knows how to control this with me. It is very easy to go from one mood to another... and as long as the other stays that way or knows how to pretend well.. then I should be ok... and maybe try it in the daytime... night time was a little creepy.
One post wonder I would say smoking anything is bad for you, but DMT is such a minimal amount of anything (if you have a vape or something).
While there is DMT in the brain (and just about every other living thing, to some degree....) I've never encountered a shred of proof beyond "hey, this sounds good" that DMT is responsible for dreaming.
I haven't heard much about it's role in dreaming, but I have read in several places that it supposedly is released during death. Very physically safe. There's one report on Erowid of a young man with a pre-existing condition having a heart attack, otherwise generally very well tolerated with most of the difficulty residing in the profound psychological effects. As with most tryptamines, you'll probably experience at least an elevated heart rate and an increase in blood pressure. Edit: for a smoother introduction to this chemical, I would suggest abstaining from alcohol, weed, any other drugs, and probably even caffeine the day of and during your first experience. I made the mistake of being pretty stoned the first time I smoked DMT and found it pretty chaotic, though not unpleasant.
That's an other thing I find intriguing about DMT, no matter how chaotic the trip can get, I never become chaotic. Almost as if it's a lucid dream, but it cannot be compared to dreaming whatsoever in my personal opinion. The "dreaming chemical" thing is just an urban myth from what I understand... Interesting that my near death experience could've come from my inner Dimethyltryptamine however...
I know that it was theorized to have all the chemicals needed to produce DMT in your pineal gland, which happens to be your third eye. But I think that may have been disproven.. Not a lot is known about it from what I understand, but I think it is true that your brain releases high amounts of DMT on birth, and death
Exactly People need to quit perpetuating this shit.. Strassman's theory merely states that the pineal gland is theoretically capable of producing DMT; it has all the enzymes and other constituents required for DMT biosynthesis. Currently, this theory is NOT accepted in the field of neurochemistry because of a tremendous lack of supporting evidence... Hell, Strassman himself emphasizes (if you've ever read the book) that there is NO evidence for this beyond the circumstantial and not to take the contents of the book as fact.. Unfortunately, I doubt we'll ever hear the end of this "DMT is what makes you dream!!!" shit now that The Spirit Molecule is a documentary film...
i rarley smoke DMT any more because my connect cant get any more Root BaRK so i only got a few doses left, im often kind of scared to do it, would like to do it with some one else. preferably some one who has done it before. The next time i do decide to smoke it im going to try to be sober from weed for a whole 24 hours in advance. CM had a good point about his trip being chaotic, my trips are often like that, as im sure many peoples are. But i am intrested in what a DMT trip is like if i am completely sober before hand. After the trip i will smoke weed it should be very interesting!
I think the only way that DMT could be bad for you is if you have a bad trip. However, bad trips can be looked at in a very positive light. For example, my boyfriend had a bad trip on LSD because he was an atheist and the trip told him to not be so stubborn and to be accepting of others beliefs. At the time he really didn't care what others had to say. It changed him. It made him who he is today - a kind, warm person. And remember, a person only spirals downwards if they focus on the negatives rather than the positives. I've seen a vast improvement in my own life from catching out the negative voices in my head and telling them to shuddurrrp. So, my point is... if you do have a bad trip (which is very unlikely on DMT - as long as you let yourself go and don't fight it) then see it as a good thing. It was supposed to happen to tell you something. Also remember that mind set is EVERYTHING. If you think you'll have a good one, then it's highly likely that you will. One more thing - DMT is extracted using harsh chemicals so that's why it feels hard on your lungs. It would be bad to constantly be inhaling the stuff, but considering it's a once in a while thing it really won't do you much harm than a cigarette. GOOD LUCK! You will love it, I am sure. Even when I was anxious the other day before I toked the bong and felt depressed, I toked it anyway and my bedroom turned into something similar to the cartoon of alice in wonderland. It was as though the drug was saying, 'stop being upset! Look at what we're trying to show you... the beauty of everything!'
Hey I had the same thing your boyfriend had. My trip made me a much more empathetic person in progress. It made me consider Buddhism. Sent from my IdeaTabA2109A using Tapatalk 4
