is anyone actually learning anything in here?

are we learning from eachother? or are we too stubborn to admit it? Isnt the Christianity forum a place to discuss the Christian beliefs? Or is it a place to diss it. Looking through the other religions i see very little bickering....but the Christianity forum is full of fighting. It also has the most views, posts, and threads. TO me it's just a confirmation that Christ is King. People have been fighting about Christ since he was a newborn.

No wonder people have always complained about the truth, because the truth hurts and forces us to look waaaaay deep inside to those places we would rather overlook... our weaknesses we'd rather not face or change. Admitting we're sinners is not easy! But there's freedom in it! The other religions are to "me" oriented and everyone can do what they want and believe what they want, it's all ok. Well that's the thing about Christ. It's about loving OTHERS first, adn putting yourself last. It goes against our human nature, but that doesnt mean it's not possible. It takes work and effort and prayer for strength. And when you really reach out in His love, it is the best feeling a human heart could ever know. And THAT's the kind of God we serve.

i learn here all the time but see what i do is argue a point and keep argueing it after ive learnt something, as if ive learnt nothing, and keep milking more things to learn. ie, when i used to post at least. the key to this is actually learning from what the person your argueing with says.

thats the key to all discussion and all arguement


i mean people cant believe eachother will change in a discussion. but thoughts of an arguement often make their impact afterwards

 

i learn tons of things in here. this is the only place where there are christians who seem to have done their research and can answer questions, even if the answers are unsatisfactory. it shows what they believe. usually when i ask the same question to any of my christian friends, they're like, "doh..?" and leave it at that.

seahorse, i think you're being overly sensitive, quite frankly. if there were no christians coming into the christian forum to answer questions about their own religion then the place would be dead. however, people like that imfuzzynutz guy (whom i'm surprised hasn't been banned yet) are another story. skeptical questioning and logical attacks are another. if you have a defense, attack back! i don't mean in a hating way, but ina debating way. (that rhymed unintentionally ) anyway that's what's cool about this place.

It's just hard to get behind a religion that condones murder when it has the title of war. Humans bleed and die just the same when killed even if there is a war going on at the time.
When they make ALL murder of other humans a mortal sin then I'll take their side.

Being a Christian means following Christ's example. Do you really think GOd approves of all the hatred and wars on this planet? He won't stop it because he has given us free will. But it does go against everything He stands for...which is quite simply, love. BUt our human nature causes us to hate. Hate ourselves and hate eachother. We need to WORK at loving! It's too easy to hate!

 

Well, I need to put in my two cents:

Atheism/Agnosticism ( whyever they're together ) also has alot of flaming, not as much as here, but still alot. And not just by Christians.
And the general religion/philosophy forums, but they don't count!

And I think Buddhism and humanism also put others first, but I'm not that sure about it.


Other than that, yeah, I agree with you 100%.
The Christian forums should be about discussion, not debating or flaming, as like all other forums (except maybe Pure Bull....).

And yeah, the people here that come to flame, yell, demean, and basicly destroy each other are just fulfilling prophecies.

IFN, i also agree with many of the things you post, dude. and you may very well expose 'the faithful' as being hypocrites. what i was referring to though, was the manner in which you do it. you tend to be more than a little vulgar, and generally hateful, and i don't think that's in any way necessary to successfully expose a hypocrite. people aren't gonna listen to you and open up their minds if you're hooting and hollering like a loony. lol
anyway, i also don't remember ever arguing with you.. checked my history and everything, so that's not my problem. i don't even have a problem with you; just saying that i have trouble finding respect for people that don't show respect. i bet you're a smart dude, who doesn't need to hoot and holler to get his point across successfully.
