well the bottom line for me is the people that matter have not learned from the mistakes of the roman empire. honestly i dont think they cared but there will be a nero when it finally all crumbles. and he wont deserve all the blame...but knowing the history books he will get all the blame.
Parallels are easy to make for sure. If anything could be well compared to the roman empire it IS the U.S. The A's in both names are just the beginning.
It's not The Romans had cool, smart emperors, like Caligula and Augustus They were also awesome at not only conquering lesser nations, but also at integrating them into their empire. Also, their senate got shit done.
As we know, Rome, like all empires, declined and fell. Maybe the same will happen to the USA in this next century. I think it is inevitable.
we're better at war when we want to be, but not better at being an empire. were piss poor about that. the US really should have a large empire going - we should own most of the world by now...just a shame really...not living up to our potential.
Hell no... When the Romans built something it was made to last thousands of years... If we build something it lasts maybe 50 years tops.
Yes, the US is basically the new Roman Empire in the days before its fall. The similarities are unmistakable. The US also is the New Atlantis as described in the works of Sir Francis Bacon.
