Ireland has voted overwhelmingly in favor of gay marriage with 62% of voters approving the referendum. This marks a huge turnaround for this conservative, Catholic country. Young people and expats came out in force to vote for legalization. Divorce as well as homosexuality was illegal in Ireland until the 1990s.
