Iraq Pullout

I was against this war from the start, but now that we're in, we need to finish the job. It pisses me off hardcore, but it's got to be done. I don't understand how poeple can say "we need to just pull out of Iraq now, it's not worth the lives of our soldiers." Well, that's a good rationale for not going over in the first place, but leaving now would just leave a power vacuum like what happened in Afghanistan when the Soviets left. Civil war for years and finally, the most ruthless group wins. What we don't finish now is going to bite us in the ass a few more years down the line, which is why it's important we finish the job, and finish it well. We can't make it perfect, but leaving now is not, in my opinion, an option. The region is too critical to allow anything like the Afghan situation to occur.

 

Thank you, at least I finally see an anti-war person with a brain on them, whether you wanted the war or not, it happend and like he said, it's to important to just withdrawl.

Well, perhaps anyone WITH A BRAIN would also realize that it's highly unlikely this war can and will be won. The insurgency is not getting any weaker in Iraq. It continues to get stronger and stronger with each passing day.

Someone WITH A BRAIN would also realize that the reason for the insurgency in Iraq is due to our imperialistic presence in their country. The Iraqis are not stupid people -- they know why we invaded their land, and much more so than the majority of Americans ever will.

The criminal minds in power don't care how long we remain in Iraq, and how many of our men die for the elite's selfish gain. This is only working to their benefit. After all, the longer the war lasts, the more contract deals there are, and the more money the elites make, while the middle-class in this country slowly begins to vanish before our eyes.

 

well, we are stuck there, we haveta stay there til we get Iraq rebuilt..and turn it back over to them.

I agree that we need to reconstruct what we destroyed. Definitely. Kerry said he'll make it clear to the Iraqis that we are not there to stay, we are not after oil. Once it is made clear that we don't intend a permanant presence, they will not be as hostile. If other nations are brought to the table, Iraqis will see that it is not just the U.S. involved.
Kerry will definitely get us out sooner. Bush* will stay the same failing course.

I'm sick of people saying that you are pro-war just because you don't think we should pull out immediately. Iraqis themselves have said they want us out, but not right away. They want us to restore order to the country first. Kerry is not pro-war and neither are his supporters.

I can see it now, doves, flowers, everybody singing and holding hands, skipping....YAY!! Iraq would be a paradise if we would only leave! If you think the Iraqis are going to have a change of heart because Kerry is elected, it only proves you know absolutely nothing about the Iraqi people and what they've been through and how they think.

It's also incredibly naive to think that because Kerry is your candidate of choice, he has no interest in oil. It's only what keeps our economy afloat, along with the money from the drugs the CIA ships into the country illegally every single day.

If the country needs oil to sustain, what is he going to do? Appease the environmentalists by drilling in Alaska?

I go by what I hear the experts say, experts being the people who are over there talking to the Iraqis.
Kerry heavily supports becoming independent of oil. He will actually fund research for alternatives to oil, something Bush* would never do. There is absolutely NO reason why our economy needs to rely on oil, don't be so ignorant. We can do without it, lots of the technology is there already, Bush* has fought to keep oil as the primary source of energy. This can change, and it will with the presidency of John Kerry.
Kerry's consideration for the Iraqis and the environment both will improve our standing in the world. I know you hate to admit it, but you don't need to, you're no expert on the matter any more than I am.

 

let's make it simple. Are YOU willing to go and fight and die? Oh, you aren't? Then sit down and shut the fuck up!
