This book is amazing, a true store too, i truly recommend this book to all people. It is about this boy who graduates from Emory and then completely takes off and ends up going to Alaska and dying. The book talks about his journey. Some people think the kid in the book had some problems and was crazy, I think he was just extremely brave and took some very extroadinary challenges. I am sure many of you will share the same views as the boy written about, Chris McCandless. Please read this book, it is amazing.
Excellent book. I loved it. I lived in Alaska and I definitely understand its draw. I also love his other book- Into Thin Air.
and read "Under the Banner of Heaven," a long look at the LDS church and its spinoff, the Fundamental LDS. Metro, did you feel Krakauer was wrestling with "deadline guilt" where writers don't get all the story so they do it over?
I definitely saw the lure of doing what Chris did. I do not call him crazy, he was just himself. He did what he wanted to. He sounded like a really nice guy. Eiger Dreams is another Krakauer book I enjoyed. I think that was the book that told of his own solo Alaska wilderness experience, when he tried to climb the Devils Thumb by himself.
