How do you fare with job interviews? Do you get nervous or relax and take control? Personally, I have no problem with them. I make constant eye contact and repeatedly use their name. Along with a firm, barely-moving, handshake. It intimidates them and they know I mean business. I think that's why I've never gone for an interview and not been hired. Any good stories about interviews?
I've only had one job. And I got fired almost a year ago. I was interviewed by a really nice lady. She had kids that were my age and she even talked to me like one of her kids, it was really fun.
i've never had a problem with them, i'm cool and confident... if its meant to be it'll be, no need to sweat it... i've also been hired for all interviews i've had with the exception of one and that was because i was highly under qualified for the job and knew it but thought id take a shot anyways. when he called to tell me i didnt get it he said "if this job was based on good looks and charm you would've had it.." i took that as a compliment
Exactly. And even if it isn't meant to be, Imma talk my way into that job. I mean I sell things for a living. Selling people on my confidence and ability to learn quickly is easy compared to some of the shit products I've had to peddle.
I've never gone to an interview and not been offered the job. I vary my approach depending on the interviewer, but generally I maintain eye contact and am very relaxed. I don't do the "use their name" thing because it's such an easily identifiable technique.
i got hired after all interviews i've had as well. i'm usually a little nervous but i guess it doesnt come across that much. they haven't been like super cool jobs or anything, just fast food restaurants and a cashier in a supermarket when i was in high school and now i'm a receptionist. not that theres anything wrong with those jobs, just sayin.. i wasnt interviewing to be a rocket scientist.
I think when you're a rocket scientist, you interview the company... I mean they can't have THAT many options, right? My old job had the guy who jump started OverStock.com come on board shortly after I left. HE interviewed the owner of the company I worked for instead of the other way around. I'm thinking rocket science would be somewhere similar.... I know what you're saying though. I just thought that was an interesting thing to interview your would be employer because you're THAT well qualified.
i've only been interviewed for two jobs, and both times it was pretty much just a formality. i suck at giving interviews though. don't really know what to look for.
im a little nervous at the start, but i always come out feeling great. selling myself to other people makes me feel better and like myself more
i try to be as prepared as possible. research the business a bit, think of any questions they will ask me, and dress really nice with my resume all updated. im usually a bit nervous at first, only because i get excited. but i do pretty well. When they ask me if there are any questions, i always ask one to show that im interested in the company and was listening. and i always make them laugh once so they will remember me.
I've only ever had one. And it was more or less, "Great, you're hired" just as I sat down. The only questions were availability and back then it was aaaaallll the time and she told me that I had orientation in the morning and that I'd start in 3 days. My only other job I ever had, Daniel's mother was my boss...and well, I'm practically married to her son, so really, no interview was necessary, lol. So I have NO clue how I am in real job interviews, I've never had one!
I only had one...I was nervous..they hired me because they needed someone right away and I had great references (my best friend at the time worked there) I've been self employed since I quit that job in 1997
I'm pretty good at them, I really don't feel nervous anymore about things like that. After realizing even the big wigs are on the same level as me, with just more power, well... it's not intimidating. Today we had a very good conversation and everything. I'm pretty sure she liked me.
i havent had to do any interviews for the jobs ive had. i look forward to doing them though, i can be quite charming when need be. Im kind of like a chemleon in the sense that I can tell what the person on the other end is looking for. my job now requires me to do hour long phone interviews with people in research studies so im getting quite used to the whole thing.
What's the biggest problem you have employee wise? Tardies, call ins, insubordination? I can honestly help you out with that quite a bit if you're interested. I'm an interview master in both being interviewed and administering interviews....
Its not the interview, the HR departments of some companies are so retarded, 4 interviews over a 2 month period once then it took another 2 weeks to tell me I'd been successful, but I had gotten another job in the mean time so I gave them a serve of how inefficient they were
