Start a thread about UN troops torturing kids in Somalia (if it even happens).

    This thread is about friendship...

It is a good place to start. Now if we can extend it to at least 365 days we might just have a lot of world issues shelved. :)

I can only be friendly 242 days of the year : /

Seriously 'a day' is probably not the point.

“The International Day of Friendship is an important opportunity to confront the misunderstandings and distrust that underlie so many of the tensions and conflicts in today’s world,” the Secretary-General said in his message for the Day.

Plenty of that goes on here...

While I agree a day is not enough at least by having a day it might make people interested enough to at least find out what it represents.

I also feel that when presented to children it makes them aware and they are the most likely in the future to leave some old prejudice behind. They simply accept others until some adult messes with their heads. If we can have them thinking about it, there is hope for the future.

242 days is pretty good! :)

The thing is, the UN terrorizes and ruins people's lives across the world, so why should anyone fall for this globalist bullshit that seeks to "unite" the world by enslaving everybody on the planet? I am all for the races uniting and coming together, but not this institutionalized, multicultural bullshit that organizations like the UN promote for their own agenda.

Well if you find a way to make them come without the "institutionalized, multicultural bullshit that organizations like the UN promote for their own agenda" ........ :)

The UN may have issues and policies that I don't agree with or support but a campaign of awareness of others is not one of them. It may be one of the few things they do right.

But the intent behind it is not genuine or as it appears, so to me it amounts to little more than the usual globalist propaganda. It seems nice at face value, but evil usually never presents itself as such.

Ho hum, snooze. Like I said, start another thread. I'll happily be critical about the UN.

You do realise this makes no sense: I am all for the races uniting and coming together, but not this institutionalized, multicultural bullshit

If you have to criticise, be specific not vague...

    'enslaving everybody on the planet'

    'globalist propaganda'

It's just bullshit, isn't it? (that's provocation, btw)

Perhaps your perception changes how you read it or see it.

I see a way to reach out to kids and say that the kid sitting next to you is not any different than the one who is a continent away. Kids are the ones who will shape what the world is during the next 50 years. If they can be taught something that simple we would have no need of the UN.

Not a bad place to start.

To be fair, that day is almost over. We tend to forget being friends, imho. Even the idea of it winds people up (mentioning no names). Instead of trying to be friends, people (mentioning no names) try and throw shit into the fan.

    ') thanks...

I think awareness is a good thing. :)

You are right in that it at times seems far easier too find differences rather than common ground. A human failing.
