it has a tendency to improve the odds of staying out of trouble. and we live in a statistical universe. of course there's more then that. there's also, again statistically, how all of us together create the kind of world each of us individually experiences.

so there's all kinds of good reasons for it, beyond some one or some book or some anything telling you that you ought to.

of course, diversity being what it is, you sometimes pay a price for it too. but again, over time and odds averaging out, you're more likely to be better off with it then without.

so whether you approach life altruistically or even completely self centeredly, all these real moral things like integrity and honesty work out in their favor.

again diversity, once in a while someone gets undeservidly lucky without them, but that really is a long shot, and for everyone that happens to, there are hundreds if not thousends who screw themselves up thinking they'll be the one who can get away with it.

(as for popular opinion, what's that, in regard to what you experience in your life? the odds of getting layed or getting a particular job or something, but as far as gratification is concerned, that comes from creating and exploring)

I am the queen of finding lost wallets. It's like they follow me around.

 

I always try to do the right thing regardless of my needs. We found a wallet in our yard on Halloween. I didn't even bother to look to see if it had money. I packaged it up and mailed it to the address on the driver's license because that was the right thing to do. Do unto others...

 

Integrity is when what you say and what do are the same not whether you adhere to a particular code.
