I am in a slump.

I have some fairly big jobs that I need to do; which when completed, will make my life easier and happier.

There are some obstacles, so I need your inspiration to get me moving and to keep me going.

    Go!!!

Clearing lots of clutter out of certain areas, cleaning them, setting up furniture in them, etc.

Well, does it help to know that i have the same problem here, Ari...who feels like cleaning an entire house? Not me...but something I must do before weather here turns too hot....
If you figure out how to get motivated by tedium, please let me know! :D

    I certainly will!!!

    My husband is a hoarder.

He has already cluttered his bedroom so badly that we had to shut it off completely.

Now, he is sleeping on the day bed in the living room and making the same clutter in there.

I have to move him to the old guest room, which needs picking up of cat litter he spilled and other trash he left in there.

I'm somewhat physically disabled with arthritis and fibromyalgia, so it's not like a healthy, young person just jumping in there and killing it with some energy.

Get off your ass and do it!

    How was that?

Convince someone to help you if you can. You not only get the help, but having someone else around is a good motivator.

I need to do a spring clean too and I need to do it before 9pm today! My best advice is go outside, completely forgot about what you have to do...get lost for about half an hour in something, come back with some new or nostalgic music and work for 30 minutes...just do your best, if after 30 minutes you want to keep going, go for it, if not you're done...try again later in the day or the next day.

I haven't been able to stop working for over two years... I'm sure a few days or a week won't be that bad for you. At least you will have that gratification of getting it done. I'm not even close to that point.

Wow, it's nice to know I'm not alone in all my clutter madness :) Really cool music helps to keep me motivated, plus taking a much deserved 30 minute break when it starts to feel like no matter how much I throw out/recycle stuff - the chore will never get done. Wishing you a job well done!

You're right. It's worth a certain amount of additional pain.

This is a really good suggestion. Get out in the sunshine, get your mind right and get a nice natural dose of vitamin d for energy, then just commit in 30 minute intervals. I almost always want to see a task through to the end once I begin but motivating yourself to start is the hardest part. Its easier if you give yourself the option to stop after a while rather than committing your whole day to it.

It's also amazing what you can get done in a few minutes when you're feeling right.

Aerianne--I have found that when I start to rearrange or clean---I stick to one room at a time. If I don't, I find myself going from room to room and then get frustrated because i can't see results. I'm sorry your hubby is ----uh---like he is. That can really make it difficult to organize stuff. Maybe confine him to one room? Sorry--that part is really none of my beeswax.

Wow you must have had a relatively mild and uneventful winter, because believe me after a long, cold, grueling - polar vortex dominated winter coupled with 110 inches of snow, Spring Cleaning around the house this weekend will feel like pure heaven
