I have about 25 jars of fully colonized vermiculite and rice flour cakes and I would like to move to rye seed now that I have the idea of sterilization and want to grow in bulk, can I use a segment of mycelium from the fully colonized vermiculite cakes to innoculate the rye substrate or must I get more spores or will I have to wait until I have live tissue(actual mushroom) any info would help

I'm pretty sure you can just carve out a small bit and drop it in, but dropping segments in is somewhat risky due to the exposure & contam risk. As said above, the best idea would be to make a liquid culture. Using LC's allows the myc to spread much quicker, because you don't have to wait for spores to germinate.... and you can generally put alot more cc's in. LC's are very, very useful, although I've never actually made one.

25 jars is a fair few, if you want bulk just make a couple of large compost casing trays and youll see how far ur 25 cakes can go ;)
