I've never really read up on why some people have inward belly buttons and some have outward ones. Anyone know? Until I do know I'm going to go with the theory that the outies are dropped as a baby, parent grabs whats left of umbilical cord to try save said baby but fails pulling the belly button out, kid gets dropped on head, thus outies are dumber
My daughter is somewhat of an outtie....it's kinda, not in, but not out....just sticky-upy. She has a hernia right above her belly button, as the site below states may be the reason her belly button kinda comes out. http://www.wisegeek.com/why-do-some-people-have-innie-belly-buttons-while-others-have-outies.htm Some believe that the outie belly button is the result of an abdominal hernia. If the muscles of the baby's abdominal walls collapse through weakness, a condition known as a hernia, then the baby's belly button may protrude instead of remaining concave. While the herniated condition is indeed possible, the chance of it permanently influencing the direction of a belly button is minimal. The belly button's innie or outie status is determined primarily by the formation of subcutaneous scar tissue, not damaged muscle tissue.
No, they don't cut it that close, it has to do with the healing process before it falls off. If it heals fast it drops off fast, if it heals slow, it leaves a little more there.
At least I admitted it. I do think that it is something along those lines.... early off innie, late off outie.
