    I have some mj plants growing in my bathroom that are about 2 weeks old. Apparently, you have to induce flowering. I know I get to choose when I want this to happen. My question is: what's the process for inducing flowering? I can't find instructions anywhere here.

    That's a big subject =>O

    The simple answer; (since you said nothing of how you're growing now) 12 hours of light followed closely by 12 hours of dark 7days a week till harvest.>) Timing (when to start this) is up to you, the rule of thumb is when the limbs start to grow in alturnately, but room v. size has a lot to do with it too,>) generally speaking they will stretch 1-3' while in flower {=>)

    Thanks. They started out in four pots on my bathroom windowsill. I had to transfer them to bigger pots, but they don't fit on the windowsill anymore, so they're on the bathroom counter. They get a little light from the adjacent window and I keep the light on during the day, but I'm afraid that's not a good place for them, so I'm about to put them in the ground in my woods.
    They already get about 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark. If I put them outside, will the flowering process happen naturally?

    I wondered about that. Here's how I plan to do it:
    I was going to dig a hole about 1 foot deep since they aren't very tall yet. Then I was going to carefully scoop the dirt from the pots into the hole without uprooting them too much. Do you think that would be okay?

    As long as you are as careful as you can be when pulling the plant out (make sure you never grab the stem, grab the dirt mound that the roots have balled up into) you should be fine to transplant.

    I don't think you understand flowering so I'll help you.

    Flowering occurs naturally between september and october for outdoor plants. This happens because the light they recieve becomes significantly less (season changes, think of the time it gets dark in the fall) and so they automatically start budding in preparation for imminent death. They know that their time is almost up so they produce buds in hopes that a male plant will come along and enable seed production. The light they recieve is 12 hours during this time. Before this season (typically summer time) they can get 15+ hours of sunlight which puts them in their vegetative stage.

    You should give your plants constant light right now because of their age. If you do intend to transplant then feed them as much light as possible before it, and let nature do the rest. Reap the awards mid-october or earlier.

    Thank you for the great advice! I appreciate it. Do you think my plants are getting enough light with just the light from the window, (there is a mirror) and the overhead light?

    i would say they will stretch pretty badly if they continue to get light from a window.....and if your overhead is an incandescent bulb it's not helping at all....if it's a fluorescent, your plant would need to be pretty much right beneath it....2in or so. But you can buy CFL's to use until you move them outdoors. Oh yea that mirror soaks up more light than it reflects, i understand this is in a bathroom so not much you can do about it but i just figured id let ya know. when moving them outdoors be ready to defend your plants from something as small as spider mites all the way up to deer, mold, wind......not trying to dappen your idea about movin them outside.....but there is alot more things to worry about when they're outside instead of in a nice safe, sheltered environment.

    I wondered about them stretching...
    I can't afford to buy a fluorescent light. As far as deer, I don't think we have to worry about them in our little woods. ;) Thanks for the help.
