Someone thought I made a typo when I said we have a legal system that allows rape. I think I should just clairfy my commentary a little bit so that it's not confusing.

    When a man rapes a woman :

    • 95% of the time it's men that sit in judgement of him. (Police, judges, etc. tend to be men)
    • It's the woman that has to prove the sex wasn't consensual.
    • It's what the woman was wearing that gets scrutinized as evidence
    • In court it's the woman's sex life that is debated.

I've had the fortune of never having been raped but I'm close to a girl that has been. It's pretty disgusting when everyone starting form the rape crises team at the hosptial to even female police officers told her she should consider not persuing legal recourse against her rapist.

Granted it wasn't to protect the rapist but to save her from being double victimized. People who care often warn women that have been raped that they should expect to be abused by the legal system and hard convictions against the rapist are rare.

Now I'm obviously not against any mature consenting adult doing whatever it is they want in their homes. As my last boyfriend said to me, "I have a picture of the Queen on my bedroom wall." Therefore consenting adults can be total freaks in their bedrooms and it's none of my business.

What I want is the end of an industy that makes it's money exploiting women and marketing to misogyny.
This sort of unethical make money by whatever means possible is just bad as companies like Mansanto poisoning our food, oil companies destroying our oceans and weapons manufacturers.

Now without more information on the context and the circumstances of how your stats were gathered and complied. One could argue that Britan which has liberal access to porn has a higher incidences of rape per capita than a nation like India where porn is harder to obtain. So again I say ban it.

I only know Porntube and Pornhub (and it's associated sites), but:

    Yes they do.

    Yes they do:

    18 U.S.C. 2257 Record-Keeping Requirements Compliance Statement.
18 U.S.C. 2257 documentation is maintained by the individual users of this site.

No they don't. A clear weakness.

Those sites seem to be a collection of porn scenes from porn films - on the whole. Even some of the 'amateur' content seems a little bit fake.

Not that I spend an awful lot of time there, or anything.

Aren't you from America? The legitimacy of your argument is quite dependent on which legal system you mean.

I've read numerous psychology articles that talked about how when the jury and judge are predominantly male; men get harsher sentences in sex abuse cases involving women, and women tend to get less harsh sentences and have a higher rate of acquittal.

And in court both sides have to prove their point. The prosecution goes first though. So in a rape case, first the plaintiff(s) (who could be male or female) would have to allege that there was sex and that it was non-consensual, and give as much evidence as they could to support it, then the defendant (which could be male or female) has to prove that the sex was consensual, or didn't happen.

There have also been a number of cases where women have claimed rape and got men falsely imprisoned.

You are being very discriminatory in your arguments.

On the police side of things though, you are right. Police often tell women not to pursue charges unless they know the assailant.

    ?

It's a matter of opinion, and you need some evidence.
It can't be the case that you have a moral objection, and you think it is true - therefore it must be true.
I sat here yesterday thinking that because I was a fairly well balanced person, and that I also have seen my fair share of porn - it can't be 'dangerous'.
    It must be perfectly ok.
But I recognise now there are a few million, maybe even half a billion people, that are not, and there are places in the world were the people and societies are not as 'sophisticated' as we are.
And this will impact their minds.
So we/they have to sometimes legislate for that.
You speak of the 'pornification' of society - so will a ban on actual porn make any difference.
Do all women need to covered up etc ?
That seems to be the logic of the various forms of Muslim clothing.
Does that stop rape? Does it even cut it down by a significant amount?

    They were reported rapes.

You can Google each line for more specifics.
    I purposely left it simple.
I also didn't wish to make any arguments based on them.
I merely point out the figures.
In a few generations, if there was a ban on porn - we should, if you are correct, see a drop in those figures, surely.
It won't be within a couple of years or so, will it?
I'd give your opinion the benefit of the doubt, but am very dubious it would make any difference.

Porntube and Pornhub are owned by a company called Manwin.
The 2257 record keeping requirements don't apply to them because the buisness is based in Luxembourg with offices located in Ireland and hosting based in Hong Kong. Therefore it's a non-american company pretending to be american and comply with american laws. So I'll call it like it is.. They're liars.

If you want to know more about Manwin you should search on the name Fabian Thylmann, the companies former CEO.

The only protection on a tube site to stop minors from accessing it is a lousy "click this to enter if your 18" button.

And absolutely ANYONE can upload absolutely ANTHING and the tube site owners do nothing to verify the documentation. Their approach is the classic, "if someone complains we'll take it down" but until then we know nothing.

So 2,000 views later and some punter decides to zip his pants up and hit the report button to notify that the video might have an underaged girl in it.

And ironically you know what the porn industry is complaining about in the middle of all this?

The porn industry is complaining about ** Piracy **

They don't care at all about the protection of children from obscene material or abuse or making sure the woman in the video was consenting. They want the piracy to stop so they can make a dollar.

No I'm not from America and I'm just kind of trying to go with flow of the conversation and tailor my debate accordingly.

I'm not sneaking out of the debate. I just need to have a lay down before going to my next job. I'll respond later this evening.

No, I presumed because a lot of the videos were merely scenes from porn films the documents are held with the owners of the films.
And consent was implied due to the nature of the films themselves.
I have not read this before: The business is based in Luxembourg with offices located in Ireland and hosting based in Hong Kong.

You don't even need that most of the time.

I must admit to not viewing every section of many of those websites because they do not interest me - so I can't 100% say it is all above board. What I have seen seems to be.

It should be the case you need to register, enter bank details and a one off small charge is levied for access - as to verify age. I have no problem with that.

    Resistance, I don't get you:confused:

Here in this thread you are calling for the banning of porn, but elsewhere complain about government control and interference.
Same question I asked about gun control. Which do you fear/despise more, guns or government control/interference? Can't have it both ways.

Plus the direct causal link between porn and rape is VEEERRRY weak at best.

You say all technology is evil and can only lead to the demise of the planet, yet you have no problem using that technology daily for frivolous endeavors such as having a sex cam and participating in internet forums.

You are one of the most self-contradictory people to have graced the forums, it's rather entertaining.

Women watch porn too you know. And you know nothing about India, you can't say its harder to obtain porn there. They show it on regular TV at night. Rape is not as common there. Maybe its not as reported due to cultural system, who knows, but the crime rate is statistically higher for literally EVERYTHING in more "developed" "civilized" countries than it is in India.

When you're a woman (like me) at some time in your early life you come to the realisation that you may endure being raped. As such I think there's always a small amount of fear that rests with us.

Now having stated that I'm know that there are really evil women that accuse men of rape for a variety of mean and bad reasons. And any women with a measure of sense is very much against this sort of woman. Because when a real rape happens the victim has to deal with another level of prejudice.

As for the studies you cite,
I haven't read them and I can really only speak from what I've seen my friend suffer. But I would think that some areas of the world probably react more harshly than others. I once had a bobby tell me that in Birmingham they should just start telling women that if they're going to get raped that they should do it in London.

Now let me address the problem of pornification of society.
I'm a girl that used to drop her knickers and put her bottom in the air for fun. (As you already know I've had an abrupt change in my life and I don't do that anymore..(ASTAGHFIRULLAH)) I always had me limits and I think when a woman says "NO" it means means just that. Well one day I was having it off with a bloke that I thought I knew very well. Well the b**** donkey punched me then started to mount my backside. Needless to say I started screaming so loud that someone came banging on the door of my flat.

He was a gentleman from a nice family. I never saw any indication of him being like that. When things calmed down and I asked him what twisted demons did he have in his head. He up and says that all the tarts he knows likes this sort of thing and he has a collection of videos he made himself to prove it.

So all this time he had been nice to me and it was only for show. Because in his mind I was only a simple tart for shagging. I said to my sister that there's always a rotton apple and I didn't let it stop me from catting around. But today when I look back at the event I feel degraded and asking how much of a role did commerical porn play in his actions.

Now you know why I'm in favor of banning porn.

I've had a few shitty one nighters, and one or two that were almost as bad as that. But the idea of banning pornography - trampling on freedom of speech - because some guys are assholes and can't separate porn sex from real sex is absurd. It's like using a flamethrower to get rid of a wasp in your house.

I think porn is usually a healthy outlet for sexual tension or frustration. And most people who watch porn are well adjusted and know that it's a fantasy.

Besides, I watch a lot - and I do mean a lot - of porn, and I don't think I've ever seen a 'donkey punching' video. I'm sure they exist - rule 34 and all, but they're not common.

Also, if the women in videos that show degrading and disgusting stuff want to be in those videos, then who are you or anyone else to tell them that they aren't allowed to?

They're consenting adults in a room with other consenting adults with cameras and sound equipment who make a video and distribute it to other consenting adults. I don't see how someone could have a problem with any of this.

What we need is better sex education. Let's not take away freedom of expression - even if you or I think that expression is disgusting, immoral or degrading.

I would think they would need to completely shut off there internet . Hear in the USA I can go to the lib. computer where porn is shut off , type in words in other lang. like muschi , fotze ( vagina in German ) or chatte , cocochone, ( French ) and get different sites . I can just see back alley dvds , kind of like the boot leg days during probeation hear in the USA .
I understand the argument that pron is mostly to get guys off . Most people dont enjoy sex in the possions done on porn vidoes . All banning it will do is drive it under ground , about like drugs are now .

So you base your position on the actions of one asshole?

So did you also consider how much of a role your own actions played in his actions, or more precisely his reaction to them?

People will always find a way to get porn. In fact the need for porn seems to have led all kinds of technological advances, ie: faster internet, large capacity hard drives, high resolution screens. People want their porn and they want it now, and will get it any way they can.

There was this preacher that made his wife dress up as a whore , called her all kind of bad names . As I remember he made her watch porn . After she had all she could stand she killed him with a shot gun . She spent a few years in jail , asult or some thing close to that . I will see if I can find the story .

Winkler testified her husband punched her in the face, kicked her at times and refused to grant a divorce. Shortly after they were married, "he just got me down and told me that I was his wife and we were family now, and he just screamed and hollered," she testified.

Speaking about their sex life, she spoke quietly and hesitantly, with eyes downcast. She said Matthew Winkler forced her to view pornography, dress "slutty" and have sex she considered unnatural.

Keeping porn legal is how you prevent dirty pimps from taking over. Banning it doesn't eliminate it....it hands a lucrative business over to those who do not care if the women are of age and consenting.

    Wrong.

Porn's main contribution is that it gave thousands of blue collar women in southern California, who would've otherwise been shining kitchen tiles five times a day, a sex life.
