-i have dyed my hair black in mourning-
i am mourning the fall of America and the death of Freedom
it seems like we may be heading in that direction
i am ready to get my walking shoes on because i am sure there will be more marches this year, hopefully more people will begin to realise we need a change before BUSH becomes drunk with power!
    .
how are you handling the outcome and what do you plan to do about it??

I'm going to...work. Yeah, not much has changed, I'm depressed and wouldn't mind marching and doing that stuff, but no one pays any attention to it. And by the way, I'm pretty sure Bush is already drunk with power. I'm really at a loss as to what I should do, which direction I should take: activism or apathy. Probably doesn't matter either way.

Trippin, I understand your pain, but there's still Hope. There are tons of angry people, and there is the great probability that Bush stole the election AGAIN. Don't become apathetic, just FIND other activists who are angry enough to keep fighting.
And just wait till the inauguration...those protests will be HUGE.
There were around 20,000 protesters at his last inauguration, just wait till this time...

I'm gunna be marching, and I'm gunna be louder than ever. Anyone who won't take a stand and let their voice be heard doesn't deserve to have that voice. The only time that standing up for what's right doesn't work is when you don't stand up. He will hear from me, everyone in his administration will hear from me, and the more people that quit bitching and take action will be heard too. It's called getting our country back, and saving what's left of the world. Quit whinning and do something.

So called election? the guy with the most votes won! in most definitions of an election that is seen as the really important bit!

What are you going to protest? the stupidity of the american people? the smell of a republicans feet?

alright, calm down there uncle joe. there are more things in this world to protest than stupidity and i have nothing against republicans, they beleive what they beleive and i respect them for that..... right now i am focusing on environmental issues....... did you know that due to our excessive air pollution and the ozone hole we are causing glaciers to melt and in the next few years sea level will be going up atleast 3 feet, taking away land that humans and animals live on???????????????????????? i am not going to PROTEST, I am going to do things that will make an ACTUAL difference!!! Bush could care less about this problem so other people are gonna have to take care of it.

Become drunk wit power, thats already settin in. Look what all fucked up shit BUSH did when he could get re-elected. Now after 4 years hes out no matter what, and people think it gonna get better. What countries is he gonna fuck wit now. Iran, N Korea? CHINA? who the fuck knows. I am gonna get a group of people to move to CANADA wit me to dodge the draft thats BUSH said wont happen. Anyone can come, even the ladies after all BUSH will draft anyone he can, cause the military is hurtin and enlistment and re-enlistment is at a all time low...

The earth has survived things the size of planets hitting it, as a species we flatter ourselves when we talk about damaging it, the environment may take a beating, who cares? we cannot kill all life on the planet, we need only look out for ourselves

i've been struggling since the war began to find my voice. i went to some local rallies, which i felt at the time don't really make a difference because nobody gives a fuck what people in rochester think. but my son went with me, and so hopefully it made an impression on him. there's another rally on monday, and i'm planning on going. will the troops come home just because i march from the liberty pole to the federal building with a bunch of pissed off college students? no. but i get closer to finding my voice the more i try to use it and let myself be heard.

We already do breath smog, the air in Oxford is now so bad that a days breathing there is the equivalent of 40 fags a day! Climate change is now irreversable and inevitable, we should start focusing on saving ourselves!

Uncle Joe: We can certainly destroy ourselves be ruining the environment with disease caused by bad air & poisons, global warming, & destroying the ozone layer. Ruining the environment also reduces our life quality. In addition, all those animals have as much a right to exist as we do, and it's just wrong to cop out and say it doesn't matter.

We have to save the environment in order to save ourselves!

We are safe! destruction of the ozone layer = more UV radiation = more mutation = increase in species diversity, making up for damage done by man. The only area we need to care about is in terms of natural resources, we need to replece fossil fuels ASAP.

Also what do you mean by destroy ourselves? we can screw about with our way of life, but our species would survive, therefore its not the end of the world :D

Yeah the species might survive, maybe a few hundred thousand refugees. Without a properly functioning environment many people will starve because of an increase in deserts, flooding of coastal cities, droughts, freezing in Europe if the ocean currents change . . . drinking water is poisoned, dirty air causing disease . . oceans fished out . . . I think you just don't want to believe that the environment matters because you know we're screwing it up. Get back to me in 2030, if either of us are still alive.

Besides, wilderness areas should be preserved even if we could survive without them.

You worry too much, the world is quite capable of taking care of itself, it doesnt need our help, things will sort themselves out. Once it becomes apparant that we are in trouble then action will be taken. Alternatively a plague of some sort will rise out of Africa and devastate the world. Admittedly these are not the best solutions, but it is the way things probably will happen.
