i thought i would recommend this book by jerry mander. if you are interested in american indians, the harmful effects of technology and the lack of respect for nature, this is the book for you. there is a lot of great information in this book - i am majoring in environmental studies and anthropology, so this was perfect for me.

also, if anyone else has read this, are there any similar books you might suggest?
