I've been studying Buddhism and I find it very interesting and I was wondering if there is an Anti-Buddha similar to Christianity having an Anti-Christ?

Not really. Not in the sense that there's some dude out there trying to bring all beings to anti-enlightenment. Though I suppose Maya fits that description, which depending on the person, may or may not be seen as a spirit or being (like a devil more than a perfectly evil man). I consider Maya to be more a general "vibe" things like materialism, egoism, etc.

i read where if buddhists meet buddha on the road, they should kill him so maybe buddha is both the buddha and the anti-buddha

All there are are the Maras which are our attachments which refuse to let us go. They are the illusions in life which trump themselves up beyond their service to us.

I'm pretty sure that's nonsense. Buddha-seekers HAVE met Buddha on the road, and they've revered him and kneeled before him, and sought his knowledge.

Nobody in their right mind would have killed the Buddha if they were seeking him.

That's more of a riddle to promote the advancement of the student who ponders the koan. It's not actual advice.

Two things: first a quote from Lin Chi 'I f you meet the Buddha, cut him down'.

Second: In tantric Buddhism in Tibet there are the equivalent of anti-Buddhas.
This can be studied in 'The Tibetan Book of the Dead'.
There are beings mentioned there translated as the 'wrathful ones' - terrifying apparitions drinking blood from skulls and so on.Very much like western demons. However, they are also, like all forms, mind created reflections only, and by meditating on them it is said that enlightenment can be attained.

Quote: 'So "killing the Buddha" means killing or wiping out this fantasy image' ...

Quote: 'Anybody who TELLS you to "Kill the Buddha" is giving a command as self-contradictory as "Be spontaneous!"'

These were taken right out from the web page you pointed out.

You say you are studying Buddhism. You mustn't be studying very hard. I am surprised to see someone so stuck up and ready to dismiss another person's offering of his viewpoint here seeking wisdom about the Buddha.

Nonetheless, good luck on your seeking. I think you may need it with the mannerisms you are using to "learn." You may want to start your search at the Buddhism FAQ on these boards. I have the feeling you can learn much there.

so the good buddha is fighting the bad buddha in our hearts

there is a native american story about two people who live in our hearts... one is love and the other is hate and they are fighting

which one will win? the one you feed ...

You say you are not trying to learn, but rather to unlearn.

In which case, you have much to learn, and much to unlearn.

Welcome to the support group, where we are all doing just that.

Just remember, you will not be welcome here if you keep such a closed mind to dismiss and insult a passing stranger's comments.

I hate to say this, but isn't the Buddha nature beyond all these distinctions of good and bad?
    Don't try to answer.
In the 'Book of the Dead' it's made very clear that the apparitions of the peaceful and wrathful ones are simply a projection of one's own thought forms - they have no substance in themselves. They exist only at a relative level. To realize this truth is said to lead to liberation.

Unfortunately, if you seek the truth this way, you will never find it.

Truth is often a relative thing.

What is true for one may not be true for another.

That may have been a little harsh. What were your emotions when you said these words? Did you see your mind typing these words as you typed them?

i am going to be enlightened and nothing is gonna help me since nothing is greater than God, i think its better to have nothing helping you than God helping you plus if God was helping me, i wouldn't be a buddhist cuz buddhists don't believe in God
