You should point out that you live in england, and a lot of the posters here are in the us or canada too. So I'm sure the immigration laws are different, and we might have different problems with them too.

In the us.. my opinion is that I think they are entitled to the work, even though they are getting paid shit. They would make a lot less in their country. But I don't really care for the mexican immigrants working around where I live. They are kind of annoying, ride bicycles to and from work, fill up the cheap apartments with 6 or 7 people.

But then you watch a movie like Babel, and you think different. So I don't really know where I stand.

    Immigrants don't take jobs.

I'd love to see one of you gringos work picking cucumbers in a field crouched all day in 100+ degree weather.

Or working in construction all day, only to get lung cancer at 30 because of all of the shit you breath in.

This argument is bullshit. Those immigrants are practically the backbone of the US economy. The whole immigration issue is just a political plot used to get votes out of stupid rednecks.

I don't understand what you said..

They don't take jobs, and then you want US gringos to go work in a field picking cucumbers, and then you say that the immigrants are the backbone of our country? What does that mean?

Oh I see.. You were referring to the op. I don't think they take jobs either. But they certainly aren't the backbone of this country. hahahahaha That's funny.

They lie and steal and work at mcdonalds and dennys, and pay their landlords in cash.

They may do the jobs that us americans won't do, but they get paid shit for it. So why does that make them so great?

Is it? Cause I'll drive down the street, and that's what I see. I've had landlords tell me in the past that they LOVE renting to mexicans cause they pay their rent on time and in cash.

It's what happens in my town. I'm seriously not stereotyping. I'll go take pictures of them.

i suggest you watch the movie "a day without a mexican"

it shows you just all the shit jobs they do that we need someone to do cause we sure as hell arent gonna do it, wel at least not for the price they are.

its also not about them working at fastfood its the jobs picking fruits and vegetables. Imagine what the prices would be if it wasnt immigrants picking them.

    No, he lives in Wales.

And it's a bad thing to ride a bicycle to work? Over here politicians are falling over each other to be seen cycling to work and the average person on the street recognises this is the best way to go. I walk or cycle 3.5 miles a day to work... Is there something wrong with me?

On topic: let 'em all in I say. Since the expansion of the EU and the massive influx of Polish and Slovak workers not needing permits to work in the UK now there's been a bit of uproar amongst your standard thick-as-pigshit kneejerk conservatives and clueless tabloid reading housewives who know nothing outside of medialand but on the whole it's been a very positive thing. Some brits complain about jobs being taken but a lot of the time it's jobs that brits don't want to do. If the Poles are going to do a decent job and the Brits are sitting on their arses claiming benefits and watching Richard & Judy then I know who I'd rather employ.

Immigration is no skin off my back, immigrant workers have strengthened the economy since EU expansion, it also means I can travel, live and work anywhere in europe without having to have any permits which is like a dream come true for me. I've also made some great friends with Poles, Czechs and other E. Europeans since they've been here. This country's been a melting pot of different cultures for a long while, the sooner people accept that we are a multicultural society and opt for inclusion the easier it will be for everyone. A few nuts and patridiots who control the gutter press and middle england will tell you differently but they're not in touch with reality or the state of the country for the last 40 years, these people live in some imaginary empirical dreamland. Bottom line: UK immigration is not a problem at all IMO. Open the gates, let other people have a piece of the pie...

Agreed with Brave Sir Rubin also...

    Edit: Post 666!!! Rahhh!!!

If you live in the United States and are not a "native American" and trace your lineage back far enough you'll encounter an immigrant so for Caucasians here to rail against immigrants is kind of hypocritical. Somewhere in history lived an ancestor who was looked upon as sort of human vermin by the more established children and grandchildren of immigrants. We help create the demand for cheap labor positions which Mexican people happily occupy... and we collectively perpetuate the economy that makes such stations in life not satisfactory to maintain our standard of living.

The issue is a convenient political ruse to distract us from focusing on an illegal war taking place in Iraq but that's an entirely different topic. The big box hooked to the cable tells us that Immigration is a big issue so we obediently get whipped into an indignant froth over it.

This gives you WAY more credibility than most in my opinion.
