Be glad there are countries, so you always have the choice of leaving if you don't like the one you're in.

Because people just can't stand to live together peacefully.... it would drive them crazy. They have to always be at odds, with their nukes pointed up each others' asses....

there would naturally be distinctive cultural separation between the oceans, or north and south continents, and cultural separation means different laws, attitudes, religions, and so on. there is always division, be it throughout the whole world, or in your own house.

The question, though, is would one world government, or unity, be a peaceful happy thing, or a tyrannical totalitarian dictatorship type thing...

I'm guessing the latter would be the more likely. :(

to a certain small extent we would be telling people what to do, but these are basic human rights that not everyone is getting, right from wrong, its not rocket science to know that peace is simply a better way than war and physically fighting...one of the many steps in the evolutionary process i suppose...

how is unity possible..... chaos is right, people won't happily mesh into one mindset, the clashing of views creates division.

man....anything is possible, absolutley anything... we can do anything we set our minds to, and no one said it was gonna be easy... as cliche as that may sound, it is soooooo true... i used to think they were full of shit when they said that when i was just a wee little fractual, but they were so right on, i dont think they even know how right they were...

People don't have to mesh into one mindset to live amicably among eachother. You can still be your own person and be at peace with others.

but then when i want to have an abortion, won't the otherwise peaceful anti-abortionist mary-sue have a problem with that? ...

no, live and let live be the philosophy in our brave new world... after all it is you who will pay the consequence if any if you abort your child.

Oh really? So if someone tries to rape my mother, should I just say, "Oh well, live and let live..." If we had a one-world government, there would still be laws, and I don't see how we can have effective laws that don't piss off one culture or another. Some cultures don't even respect the International Declaration of Human Rights...what makes you think they'd respect a one world government?

i think that raping the mother would be the basic right from wrong, the only real thing we'd enforce, and we could actually bring people up on these ideas and pull the problem out by its roots, instead of cutting leaves and watching it grow back, like we do now...

ah, the fallacy of man... what does fallacy mean again?*busts out dictionary.com*

but what about when it's not just me who pays the consequences? controversial topics like abortion, capital punishment, censorship, hate crimes, drug trafficking.....

our ability to gather knowlege and form opinions is our beautiful quality, but it also means that we can never experience complete peace. this is the essence of living in this world... there is no heaven on earth. here we learn, confront knowlege, divide and connect to each other.

we are striving for perfection, we wouldn't be ourselves and it wouldn't be this world anymore if we achieved it.

are you all even trying to understand or make this work? lets be positive and hopefull, uhmm kay?

how about instead of punishing and hoping they understand what they did, lets actually help them understand what they did, and understand the effect they have on people, perhaps teach the golden rule as we raise our kids, and i mean really teach it... and show the new generation that love IS the answer, and that i can work, it worked at woodstock with a LOT of people, so unity, peace, and love are ALL very possible! as for heaven being on Earth, well I guess that is up to us and our perception, it usually is...

dont you WANT to see a better tommorow for you and me? if not for us, but for you at least?!

you have good intentions, but you are an idealist, and the utopian world you're talking about is impossible. philosophers have struggled with your above statement for ages... "the basic right from wrong, the only real thing we'd enforce...". what is the basic right and wrong? there's no answer here.

i said it before and i will say it again for the rest of my days probably, anything is possible, we can do anything if we just set our minds to it... blackie says thinking is the first step to changing, people have not tryed everything they can to change the world, there are infinite methods, we can find the right one if we look hard enough...

and yes there are basic right and wrong! that little voice inside of us, if we would just listen to that damn thing, our concious, and if we were taught love... you may say im a dreamer, but im not the only one
