I'm returning to my old days, full of depression and sadness. I dont like it, but I can't seem to help it. Probably has something to do with the recent increase in humiliation, insults, and disbelief. Even my own dad shuts down my goals.
I know how you feel man. I just thought that (in the words of Jimi Hendrix) "I'm the one thats gonna die when its time for me to die. So let me live my life, the way I want to"
My parents/aunt (sort of) shut down my dream.... But if I listen to them, my life is going to be merely how they want me to live. Live for you and do what you think is right....after all its your life... Feel better
Work, become financially independent from your parents, and then they cannot get in your way. The humiliation and all that... just do not take it to heart... you are the one that's deciding to be offended by it, you can just as easily ignore it.
im confused...you seem to answer like you know exactly what his problem is. and im not even saying you dont. why is this guy depressed?
the natural thing to do when someone does or says something offensive is to be defensive. wed have to learn to ignore it. but while that happens one could realize what in fact they are trying to ignore. dont just be offensive. and dont do the opposite because its wrong. do what feels natural and really think about why you would do anything at all.
Could be something different than what you think. Some people get Seasonal Affective Disorder....SAD...(yeah, go figure). Its a real thing though, In winter as the daylight hours grow shorter some of us don't process things well and end up with a bit of a chemical inbalance. (depression) Some types of artificial light help with this. Who Knows, could be some other issue but you can check this SAD business out and see if any of it fits you...good luck
thats so incomplete. the chemical inbalance that supposedly causes depression doesnt actually cause depression. its just that the average person is depressed from this imbalance. to go and say my personal and very unique emotions are of the same chemical as everyone else is perposterous
Didn't mean to suggest his particular situation isn't a major part of it. Since I know nothing of his situation, You're right , it is incomplete. However, before anybody cherish's their own unique circumstances too much though, they may well want to consider there are other forces working on the mind/body that they may not completely realize. Don't need to feel offended....it was just a thought transmitted electronically by an anonymous entity. Hope all goes well for you.
yea...i was serious, but whatever tone i had was just sorty me joking, i wasnt really offended. but i think its strange how someone can say. oh i have depression, or i have paranoia. like, theres pills for that stuff, and i guess these pills stop a certain chemical from being made or helps balance it out with anohter one idk, but it just doesnt make sense how theres an actual chemical for depression. it has to be a mixture of tons of different ones. and whatever they are vary dramatically from person to person.
In fact, there are changes in brain chemistry with clinical depression, specifically the neurotransmitters, dopamine, seratonin etc. Clinical depression is dangerous and needs to be treated on 2 levels...medically with SSRI's(selective seratonin re-uptake inhibitors) the newest of the anti depressants. Concomitantly talk therapy is recommended to insure the quickest recovery from depression. For someone suffering Clinical Depression, the idea that they should just get over it is cruel. So complex is the human mind that even the change in the amount of sunlight daily can create a depressed state (SAD) for some. Paranoia is a different thing entirely and is often part of Schizophrenia...perhaps the most vicious of all mental illnesses. Pray that you are never affected by any mental illness but know that medical/psychological treatment can help if you are.
so some people are depressed about nothing at all? they just have something wrong with them? like i said, nothing at all?
What is wrong is a change in the body/mind chemistry. It can and does happen to people for no reason except the change in chemistry. People frequently blame themselves, think they are weak or crazy. Depression is a fairly easy treatment usually. It tend to be a chronic illness and many folks need to stay on medication for extended periods of time(years for some). The chemical balance of the human mind is fairly delicate...I have seen full-blown psychosis from sleep deprivation of no more than 4 or 5 days. Even an excessive amount of caffine can cause psychosis...there is aa website:www.mental health.com that can explain some of this if you are interested.
