But I'd love to be proven wrong by someone else, because while the idea of being unique is exciting, it's more exciting to know that you have something rare in common with a handful of other people. For me it's going barefoot to football matches all over England (and Wales sometimes). I've spent the last year documenting my trips on a youtube channel to grounds all over the country in the hope that more people would see it and find it less surprising so eventually everyone comes to expect it and seeing a barefooter won't be much of a shock to anyone. That's the idea anyway. So while I am taking the opportunity to share that video series, my main question for this thread relates more directly to the title. Is there anything that you do which you think might make you the only person to do it barefoot?
Very brave of you.I couldn't even go to a football match, let alone barefooted. (Because I don't like football.)
Well it helps that I was taken to my first football game when young and grew up going to matches most weeks. I "came out" as a barefooter a lot later, once I'd gone away to university (in fact I believe it was really on here that I did it, with my first ever post on this forum). And then it was still later than that that I started going barefoot to matches, but once I did that was the opening of the floodgates for me as I knew that if I could go barefoot there and face the reactions of the stereotypical football fan, then I could do anything I wanted to really. It's really paid off now as I'm known for it. A lot of QPR fans have spotted me and mentioned "the no shoes man" to each other so I'm just one of the novelty fans that they get excited about actually seeing which makes interactions with me very positive most of the time. I'm also known to a few West Ham fans after joining in with their charity walks. I'm still a surprise to most fans of other teams, and I usually get talked about on twitter by someone after games, but more often than not, another QPR fan will fill them in before I have a chance to respond as enough of them know me now and will usually give me a good reference. But my aim with the videos is for fewer and fewer people to be surprised by it. If we get promoted and I do more Premier League away games the exposure will be a lot bigger of course.
Oh that's cool.I support West Ham...Even though I'm not really into it - I have seen them play, many moons ago.
Have you heard of Jonjo Heuerman and his charity work for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research? He's got the support of loads of West Ham fans, and I join in with some of his activities. Most recently the 50 mile walk from Southend to West Ham - and I have videos of that too.
Ive gone to more then several concerts (indoor and outdoor) barefoot, been to to wrestling shows and hockey games barefoot as well
I saw a school girls Ice Hockey game last December while I was in Boston. Just passed by a rink where people were playing so popped into watch it. I went to a Chessboxing night barefoot last year as well. Must do that again!
I am a big footy fan of the team that last week stop the 9 years drought of the winning a trophy. I think it's brilliant of you attending games barefoot up and down the country. Seen a few of your videos and it's good to see you don't have much trouble. Even though I do barefoot but not as much as you, I can't see me barefooting to the games at the Emirates. I have gone in flip flops and take them off there but no more than that. Good luck in the play-offs and if The Hoops do get into the Premier League, we might bump into each other in the one of the games. Mo :sunny:
Not much in the way of football here in states. did do barefoot at games in the previous league. This league (MLS) I won't even watch on TV.
