"ladies" are my moms friends...i prefer to call females my own age "girls"...and if theyre younger like my nieces I say "little girls"
It's all relative. To a mature man, you're still a girl. Once you're called "a lady" or "Ma'm" you're know you're gettin' old. Enjoy your youth and don't let a word spoil your day. Woman is a word not used much in normal discourse unless you're referring to a third party. Girl is a more friendly term and you shouldn't be offended by its casual use. The word "boy" is a far more emotionally charged word in certain contexts. So be glad nobody's calling you "boy"! Also realize that ppl from my generation grew up to songs that used the word "girl" in romantic contexts a whole lot. I can only think of one song that tried to change that - Woman, Woman by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap. It's kinda interesting that in this song the woman is cheating. In other songs by the same group, like Young Girl (who tries to seduce him), and Lady Willpower all use the various words in different contexts... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nNXi66N2oc"]YouTube - Gary Puckett and The Union Gap "Woman,Woman" Girl is almost always going to be used by any man who wants sex with you...
The last thing I would ever call a woman I wanted to have sex with, is a girl. (out of the choices of woman, lady, chick, babe, baby, girl) maybe second last if you tossed broad in there... lol
That goes two ways. Women or girls and Men or boys..As long as your not using it in a manner that looks down on the person or ment to be degrading I dont see what difference it makes.
You're right, it does go both ways... the last thing a woman I was fucking would call me is boy... literally, because after that point, she wouldn't be fucking me anymore...
The last time I called my wife a woman she got real pissed......"Woman, get me a sandwich" I don't know, maybe I should have phrased it differently.
What's the problem with lady? I'd figure most here wouldn't want to be called "woman" due to the "man" aspect of it. I usually call em broads or toots. Unless they pick up the cheque on a date, then I call them a lady.
I think intentions matter... It's not all black and white. Words mean different things to different people, and I think it should stay that way rather than standardizing our language (Yay censorship. Yay political correctness. Now no one can have any fun, and people will refrain from saying anything meaningful for fear of coming off as "insensitive." No, you're right, let's just talk about the weather). I've never felt I had anything to prove, though. I guess if I had a male employer and he called me sweetheart, I might get offended, but again it depends on their background. If I know they don't say it because they look down on me, I'm not about to call a meeting over it...
I actually like to be called a girl. Not sure why, but I always refer to myself as a girl. I actually really dislike the sound of the word 'woman' I just think it is vocally an ugly word. Same with 'female'. But I love the sound of 'girl'. I actually base a lot of the words that I use on whether or not I like the sound of the word.
I think it is fine - depends (like so many thngs) on context. I find myself using "lady" mostly on forums. In my mind I usually think "woman". But even someone my age, I may call a girl sometimes, like as in "Girl, don't tease me like that!", or "girl's night out tonight?". Personally I don't think anything is wrong with "girl" - it's the intent behind it. Like, if a guy's mind is at the place where he thinks "I am MAN you are girl", that would be different than, "I love the way you kiss me, girl", or "wow that's a lot of girls all going to the bathroom as a group, over there".
