Im going to put my random rant here

So I was just reading a few thread and I noticed that people state their opinion as if it were a factual thing. For example if someone were to tell me that the genre of music I listen to sucks, I would want them to say "I think or I belive that you music sucks and this is why" I would probably be more apt to care about the opinion. But when someone just states what they think without facts or an 'i believe' type statement, it makes me think, who made you so high and mighty that what you say goes?

So that was my random rant for the day

haha^ i beleive music stopped being good after about 79. Couple good tunes around but not a remarkable amount.

you know.. it's just a forum.. I don't think many people are serious on here.. I'm not much.. like I say things sometimes as if I meant them but I don't really..

 

i would agree with you that this true for some stuff here but when it comes to music, people here think opinions are facts

 

When someone says, "Your choice of music sucks," they are stating an opinion, not a fact. Saying "I think," or "it's my opinion," is redundant.

I don't know who made me so high and mighty, but I don't post here that often and when I do, it's usually about something that I have FELT, or feel CERTAIN about.

First off, I have to be respectful to a member who's simple little mind obviously lives... and moderators here, telling me that the links I have posted are B.S.
That's like calling me a liar,, ,but I play cool .

Naturally, I don't expect anybody to understand who I am, or what I have been through concerning those particular "issues", or that I was trying to be helpful and WARN them about something dangerous...
they just respond with simple little answers like "you are wrong" in a vain attempt to dismiss what I am trying to show them... simply because it is too much for their young minds to grasp, accept, or comprehend.
At their age... they believe they know everything. I was just like you .. DUMBASS!

But I am smart enough to KNOW that no matter what you tell some people, they will find some way to show you are wrong... even if they have to side with the USG.... because they disagree or dislike YOU as a person.. so their young mind is unwilling to accept or acknowledge anything that comes from someone like me.

What I state here is not my opinion, I am doing my best to help you understand things that you are unaware of, and try to make a few people here feel better about themselves... or help them deal with what they are experiencing.... because it is something that I have been through.
Not because I know everything, but because I have the ability to express what I have failed at, and I posess a desire to show others what I understand.

ANYWAY...

there's no disconnect. no isolation. innocent intentions are good, but everything still effects everything else. i mean joke or no joke, everything still does anyway.

although i do think we too much restrict our creativity.

not all fears are unfounded, but we don't need to define ourselves by them internally.

i think that's, recognizing that those are two different things, that's one of the things our culture needs to evolve more into better accepting and dealing with.

there is no "us" and "them". there is only self and EVERYONE.

(as for subjective perceptions being presented as objective "facts", well there is no such thing, really, as a fact as such. there are ways things tend to work and happen, that can consistently appear to work the same way, and can therefor be reasonably counted upon to do so the next time. but that's as far as that goes.

any online forum, or even personal conversation, unless its very specifically in some sort of rigerously tecnical or scientific context, simply because none of us are likely to be infallable, is MOSTLY opinion. i mean there are some things that can be observed as statisticly probable, even VERY probable (or improbable). ah there is another thing, and that is to say what defines one culture or another in the anthropological sense, and that's what a person is used to everyone else they know persoanally also asuming, is how something is or works. a lot of time this will be wrong in detail, but make some kind of sense aligorically in the context of the prevailing values they are surrounded by).

Anyone who bitches about there being no good music today needs to stop listening to the radio, get off their ass, and open their eyes. There is PLENTY of awesome tunes out there. Just because they aren't forced upon you by the magical music fairy doesn't mean that they don't exist.

 

Its great to be a society that has the ability to take the time to bitch about things that really dont impact us much and yet choose to ignore the things that impact us all with adversity.
