i'm going to kill my computer it runs so slow

okay, i know this is the wrong forum or whatever but i figure you guys can help me

my computer runs so fucking slow. i took off all programs i don't use, ran anti-virus, anti-maleware & anti-rookit scans and defragged it but it still runs so shitty

its windows xp

sounds like you need to use the computer recovery disc, knock it back to factory settings.

You should have been giving a recovery disc with the computer when bought. It just has the ability to send the computer back exactly as it was when bought, so assuming it's not the hardware it should work for yours as well.

If you don't have one, I am pretty sure you can find a way of getting one from Microsoft via their website or something. Just go on their website and have a look, each is relevant to every possible computer system they offer.

 

In fact it's not Microsoft, you should get in touch with the computer manufacturer. Beg your pardon, my mistake.

 

Just reinstall windows.

I have a seperate hard drive that I keep all the stuff I dont want to lose that way I can just format the C: drive whenever I feel like it.

 

how many gigs does your harddrive have? and whats your ram?

If her system is slow enough she may be able to bake some cookies.

 

ram, processor type/speed, hd size, os version, intenet connnection, and color of the case are all important things in determining the best course of action.

re-image it...
i juts re-imaged my laptop, i was going to throw it away.

now it runs flawlessly.

 

changing the desktop background usually helps it run way faster too.

 

Especially color of the case.

 

i don't know anything about any of those things.

my folks bought this computer YEARS ago off ebay it has no disks that came with it
i'm pretty sure i have a bootleg copy of windows so reinstalling it is a no-go


and i have no idea what any of that other stuff even is
