wooo, yeah, I'm also excited, how it goes... yup, when I imagine that somebody, who photographed The Stones.. wooooooooo
WOW...thats all i can say about the other day. i have had an amazing time with peter simon and denis miller. these guys are really great people. and peter is one of my favorite human beings ever haha heres how the day went. I woke up at around 9:30am and excited as ever. I get dressed and hurry over there and come in at about 11:00am. he hadnt gotten there so we waited a while and then he shows up. His driver gets out and talks with us and then here he comes. i see a short man, probably the same height as me (5'8/5'9ish) and it appears to me that he had long hair in his past but due to old age it was falling out. hahah. he was probably somewhere in his later 50's maybe early 60's but you wouldnt tell it from his personality. Anyways he greets my mother with a kiss and a hug and to everyone else including me, and very strong hug. i already had glorious vibes from this guy by then his driver had to leave so he thanked him, kindly, as if he was truely truely appreciate of his service..it was nice to see that type of gratitude. anyways he doesnt realize im my mothers son and he just chats with us. he comments on my hair. he looked at me for quite some time and i turned to him and hes just like "you have beautiful hair" and i was just like thanks alot. my mom told him i was her son and he really lit up. throughout the day we talked and talked and talked. when stoped for a lunch break we sat all together and ate and he talked about his life and the people he's met. it turns out he was touring with the grateful dead as their photographer and he would interview and spend time with them. he talked about the many interviews he had with jerry garcia and bob weir. and i talked to him more about my interests in that era and such and told him my favorite bands were the dead and the airplane and he lit up and said me too! hahah. i asked him who was his favorite person to interview and photograph and to my surprise it wasnt jerry, but Bob Marley. he got to spend time with him in his home. He said it was fun and talked about the gigantic splif they were all smokeing and someone commented by saying "thats probably what added to all the fun!" haha it was a good laugh. But yea he has shots of him in his home and on his car and even at his gave sight with everyone around it and everything. it was really great. we talked alot more after that and then denis miller shows up. hes a documentary film maker and photo director. he was there as a friend and assistant to peter. hes also a really groovy guy. he was well into the scene as well, and acually still is. When he found out who i was and what i was into he took me to his car and showed me a book of peters work in the 60's and i was amazed. it was crazy. i told him that i was into the Haight Ashbury scene and the bands from that area. and he was like..."whoa..what a mind blow..i was just there a few days ago. you said you like the dead so you'll really dig this. i was in the park after going to the deads old house and shooting a few takes over there and i got to drum with a few dozen stoned hippies and Phil Lesh" i was freaking out. hahaha hes really a great guy. we all got along very nice. I think Peter took a liking to me because he kept going back to my mother and telling her how remarkable i was and that i had a very loving heart. i was really happy to have met him and talk with them. They were really great people, they have been a long way and still have alot to go. the last picture he took was with me in my truck on the passanger side with the windows rolled up. i was leaning against my window and he took a picture with a peace sign held up. i didnt realize it then, but once i looked at the photo, the picture was with me, a tree in the reflection covering a lil of my face artfully with a peace sign in the reflection..it was really beautiful anyways. im sure we're going to keep in touch. he lives down in Martha's Vinyard if anyone knows where that is. but hes such a great guy. it was really awsome that he knows so many people and was with even more. i was really proud to be in that situation. peace and love to all.
