There's no place for me here. I've saved some money and I'm going to buy a plane ticket. Probably somewhere in europe. I just want the rest of my life to be interesting if nothing else. Safty isn't a concern. If I survive it'll be good for my book. Any suggestions? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UG4ORLjFJVM&feature=related"]YouTube - Devil Doll - Eliogabalus - MR. Doctor I / III I dread the great winged insects And the cat-headed butterflies; Above all the fleshy wings Of the birds Trying to clutch me At times I thought I was a glass bowl And I trembled Fearing ti be cracked Or I felt as if I had committed A horrible crime (But... which one?) Sinking off (only) At night Then I was in a vast garden And I cut the tree in the middle "Tree of the knowledge Of dood and evil" Building a vessel That I named "Narrenschiff" And I sailed through Black waves of clotted blood Closing my eyes... Whwn I opened them I was sitting on the throne With the terror Of an endless hiccup Anxiety Not to walk on the lines I carry on numbering things 'Till I forget how many Then I start again... I don't give a damn For Caligula: just his horse! And I'm bored by Julius Caesar's Thousands words To cross the rubycon only "The mirror! The mirror! The mirrored life!" Same and adverse The real and its stage Flesh and blood puppets In the scene of the game Bitches to power The army is a ballet Empty the treasure In everyone's hands! "The mirror! The mirror! The mirrored life!" Sitting along in the empty pit Me The laughing man Innocent or absurd Not as death Living one instant But as the planet Diverse and deformed Watching the earth Beyond the mirror Now you, just you: Child Staring at me from the world - Biult on eternal repetitions - Behind the mirror Crack my world from side to side Kill me with every day To walk together Upon the sea... Life Is a state Of mind
I meandered around Cambodia for two months before a job fell in my lap. It's okay, but my days are now mostly spent planning savings and my next destination while I'm at work. On the plus side it provides lots of free travel between Cambodia Vietnam and Thailand. I'm going somewhere remoter next move. You will have to pay visas and stuff while you're drifting buddy. Hope you're good at adapting.
That elludes to what is confusing me about this choice. I want something totally different from everything I know. I feel like my whole life so far has just served to show me what I don't like and what I don't want. Which is fine, great lets get it out of the way. But at the same time, I don't really want to stand out or be overly alienated (language barriers, looking like a forigner). So it's a conundrum. Expacally with the way people think of Americans out there. I don't want to make myself a target. But I'm at the point the fear of it wont prevent me from doing it anyway. I've been slipping through difficult situations as far back as I can remember lol
That's called being homeless. And there's nothing romantic about that. Joking aside, no. I've seen enough here.
Go to Asia. It's cheap and awesome. India is especially cheap, it's like, 50 cents for a meal and a dollar for a hotel if nobody is taking you in because they love americans down there. Thailand is bonkers and is one of the chillest places in the world. If a policeman misses a shift or does something wrong he has to wear a pink Hello Kitty armband for a month. If you get robbed they only take like, 70% of your money at the most. Go anywhere but South America, that place is fucked up especially for white people.
Well Sam, in all seriousness you can't rightly expect a place to be made for you- you have to do it yourself... whether that is here, Europe, India, or wherever. There's little you'll be able to do to fully disguise your place of origin. The frame of mind you take into a given situation will go a long way to determining whether you're to be happy in it.
Asia sounds amazing. They're mostly cool with white people over there these days? Being the only white dude around might freak me out a bit.
You could move to Japan and become a pop star. Japanese love the white man dong. Thai people don't care where you're from. Vietnamese don't give a shit either. Chinese are interested in anything.
I would suggest India...its cheap and if you're going to travel you might as well get as much of a culture shock as you can, why not? I ran into an old friend of mine a few years ago. He told me he had just bought a plane ticket to Ireland, had absolutely no plans and only a couple hundred dollars saved up. I didn't hear from him again until a couple of months ago, he is now married to a total hottie of a western european and they live on a farm in Ireland. He's living the dream. Don't let anyone tell you that you need a plan or that you need to save more money first, just do it! the plan will follow, or not..either way it will be an adventure.
