http://now.msn.com/entertainment/0527-skipping-commercials-illegal.aspx Sulky TV networks claim skipping commercials is illegal 6 hrs ago Fox, NBC, and CBS are incredibly miffed at Dish Network for providing a digital video recorder with an "Auto Hop" commercial-skipping feature (Fox already refused to show ads for it), and now they're attempting to convince a court that skipping commercials while watching a recorded show is illegal. As unlikely as this lawsuit sounds, a similar suit worked in 2002. The networks didn't actually win the case, but the defendant, ReplayTV, went broke before the court could rule in their favor. Win by forfeit is still a win. The suit doesn't touch on the legality of going to the bathroom during a commercial, but there's plenty of time for that argument to be introduced while this legal theater plays out. Ridiculous..
Next there will be remote screens in the bathroom so the commercials follow you throughout the house and all mute buttons will be disabled... :willy_nilly:
That is what I do. I rarely watch anything live. Due to my strange sleeping schedule I tape things and then watch at some other time.
I hate how they try to make you relate to the actors on the commercials. Theyre like mini-shows. Just get to the product and spare me the theatrics, and does every commercial have to ask you questions??
Ha! Next they'll tell us pop-up blockers are illegal, eh? Cause that would be the same thing, no? This is what all the world really needs an easy way to block ALL commercial content from our lives. Maybe then people will pay more attention to what the commercials are hiding from us, REALITY... I really wish we didn't need to have any commercial content here, but someone has to pay the bills for this site.
too bad there isn't an ad-block plus add-on for television. it's sickening, though, how they have already ruined large chunks of the landscape and aren't content. they must force themselves into your dwelling-space to bombard you with promotional videos for their (often) poorly-made product. then again, i mainly watch Link and FSTV, which are viewer supported and have no corporate intrusions.
Indeed it is... NO OTHER COUNTRIES TRY TO FORCE SPAM DOWN PPLS THROATS LIKE THIS ONE! (Those of you not in this country should see TV here ITS ALMOST UNWATCHABLE there are so many ads now)
I watch TV online, and browse HF during commercials. Maybe there will be a clause in the ruling concerning switching ff tabs.
Political commercials have been going on for some time now. I would say that every commercial break has at least two presidential commercials at this time. Is Ohio unique in this or is it going on all over the US?
