I know lots of people do not believe in Heaven/Hell.

If you do, can you explain where they are?

I have a concept but I'll hold onto it for a little while because I'd like to hear other thoughts first.

In a vision I was sitting at the edge of the Bottomless Pit . God then spoke to me . "Do not throw
anything in there , certainly not any garbage .. verily , it is supposed to be empty ."

Cartoons have depicted heaven being in the clouds, and hell being in Earth’s core.

We've been in and above the clouds so we know it's not there.

The Earth's core wouldn't sustain any suffering, though; and how would everyone get there?

Where are Heaven and Hell, and how do we get there?

I don't believe in heaven or hell but I think some of those that do think it's essentially in a different dimension. A spiritual dimension where the laws of physics don't apply and I suppose one necessarily must be a dualist or an idealist to maintain that part of your being is able to access these promised concepts on the basis of faith.

As corny as this may sounds the most vivid dream I've ever had in my life, I was suspended on wings in midair
looking down at a pit filled with small devil-like creatures.

It felt as real as anything I've ever experienced

Since we go 'up' it must be above the clouds, but no one has told me how far.
Since only our spirit goes there, the rocks on the way down should not be too much of a problem.

Heaven and Hell is the ninth studio album by English rock band Black Sabbath, released on 25 April 1980. It is the first Black Sabbath album to feature vocalist Ronnie James Dio..

I think heaven is on another plane, a spiritual plane...which is why (of course) no one has ever seen it with their earthly eyes "above the earth".

I think hell is within one's own mind, trapped there after death.

i believe one's soul or spirit reaches one or the other after the flesh has died. There are practically countless numbers of NDEs which took place when the person had technically died.

I was looking for an answer in Wagner's ring cycle, but I did not think that many members would watch all 11 hours of the operas. :yum:

Your last moment of existence is timeless consciousness , so then rest in peace in an eternally kind dream . After while , we'll make your bones into a bundle . And we'll draw pictures of our ancestors as very tall . Above = honored . We only assume dying
grumpy must be a hellish condition . As Christian Farmers we have this sort of sensibility .

I like to think a little bit like where GB is going. If that's where's he's going.. I'd like to think hell would just be like a boring darkness with just nothing but this little whiteness of nothing there's to grasp, but not torment..
    1200px-Main_erlanger_crater_large.jpg

And heaven be all bright and glowing, bliss, within all this the universe and all creation.

Tho I think this is some subatomic realm in the spiritual world that we are not aware of.

I think Hell is just been a misconception for a long time.

One of the earlier conceptions of Hell was know as the "underworld" which has been completely misinterpreted into meaning beneath the ground.

Let's get something straight. The underworld to the ancients didn't mean a place in the ground, in simply meant the southern hemisphere. The southern world was known as the underworld in basically the first religious doctrine by the Sumerians.

The relation between torment and agony was an actual thing however. The Sumerians wrote that their gods who created humankind also used humankind for the own slave labour. They were mining gold in the gold mines of south Africa. The humans suffered drastically. To be sent to the "underworld" didn't mean to be sent to fiery pits of Hell. It meant to endure hardship as a slave. This was the known underworld to our historically earliest civilisation.

Another thing is when Christianity adapted to the same stories, Hell was only a containment for Satan. It states pretty clearly that souls do not go to Hell, they are written in a book which is tossed into the lake of fire. If your name is in the book, you do not see your afterlife. But there's no torment or Hell or anything like that for anybody you just don't live eternally.

Hell is something used to instill fear into people. It conforms people into believing blindly or fear of Hell and torment, but it's original concept is far different to what we know today.

Personally I go with the original concepts and not the adaptations.

You're all safe. Even if you are evil.

On the flip side, the upper world to the Sumerians was a lavish beautiful land full of life and even the mythical Eden existed in mesopotomia but this wasn't heaven. The Sumerian gods never claimed to be the all creators, they also chase the same burning question we ask today.

If the Sumerian gods did mention heaven as an afterlife I believe they were only misrepresenting to build on the fear and reward instillment to humans. I don't believe they had any clear indication at all what happened when you died. They were just as scared as we are today.

My conclusion: I don't believe in Heaven and Hell as a physical realm. What happens to my soul when I die I am not sure perhaps my body is just an Avatar to get around in. Will my soul transfer into another being, an animal, spirit or earthly Wight I am not sure of. But I am sure my consciousness will exist at least for a small time before it either absorbs into another living thing or possibly it just evaporates eternally.

I've almost died in the ocean and I have felt and seen the tunnel of light, the peace and harmony of almost drowning and the music that came through that tunnel. Whether that was real or my consciousness under stress I'm not sure but I can see why people believe in heaven. I just don't think that's what was at the end of that tunnel.

    Looks like 5-meo-dmt vs DMT.

I am a strict materialist, or physicalist to be pedantic, so I think that consciousness is an emergent phenomena of brain chemistry and there is no spiritual (in the supernatural sense) component to it and ceases to persist when we die.

But I am fascinated by other inquiries into such topics.
