Wow. You are so lucky that you don't know what it is. It's an anti-drug program that kids in U.S. public schools have to sit through. Here's the Wikipedia page on it:

These DARE people are rolling in money from confiscating provate property at the slightest pretense even with court dates pending, auctioning off the goods and keeping the money.

What do they need to shake a tin cup for?

At least the premise behind State sanctioned gambling and lotteries is that the rake-off is "supposed" to go for education.

At DARE they keep the money for funding further survielence and raids huge payroll and pension costs.

Its also in Canada but its becoming increasingly shunned here. I took it in school, but I have never seen them anywhere else. Some schools even refuse to allow DARE to be taught in there schools cause its a drastic failure.

I haven't seen the D.A.R.E folks since I was in elementary school. I didn't know they were still relevant. Bullshit war on drugs propaganda and one of the first promoters of the incredibly ridiculous "zero tolerance" policy. They've also tried to stop the selling of over the counter "morning after" pills. Yeah, they have a big agenda to push and it doesn't end with drugs. They want to take away all of your rights and tell you what you can and can't put into your body. Why are they collecting money? I thought they were supposed to be a non-profit organization?

I've never seen any, but I'm too calm to do anything about it. I'd probably fume internally and walk by shaking my fist.

Sounds nasty. People should get a grip, im sick of them trying to control us. We have already been rounded up like a bunch of sheep as it is. They can't decide what we do with our own bodies etc.

All dare did was make me curious enough to ask what the big deal was. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have cared enough to try pot.

    gods bless them....heheheheh

They also gave me a great education in what the cops look for....know thy enemy, dude. Taught me great ways to not get busted, and be smart about growing, smoking, transport and sales. Just gotta see through the smoke and mirrors, read between the lines, and realize they're giving you all the info you need to bypass them.

same here... they made me want to try all these things. I figured, "what is so great that people are willing to break the law over it?" I especially want to try LSD after all the trippy videos they showed us.
Like I said, DARE is propoganda and bs.

There is a kid at my school who wears a dare shirt, I want to ask him about. We have family consumer science instead of dare. It's sex ed. and anti drug. Though we only talked about inhalants for 1 day and didn't say anything about pot which I though was weird.
    Peace & Love

Man, I didn't even know that was still around. I remember it from the early 1990s, and I remember the required workbooks and annoying cartoons. I always thought it was kinda stupid.

This is the thing that pissed me off the most:

you want to know how big of creeps cops really are?

They use DARE stickers on vehicles to profile for traffic stops. Same with any kind of 'we support our PD' or 'we support our fire department' stickers. Being over the age of 10 and wearing a DARE tshirt in public, too.

so determined to make a bust that they turn on their own brainwashed servants.

They also, in this area, have been known to 'pay parents a visit' that didn't want their kids involved in DARE. Presumably as to what was wrong with the program, but it's a targeted variant of the 'knock and talk' bust system. Once they've been invited in, they search, and turn up everything from pot, to money to PRESCRIPTION DRUGS. The charges for the prescription drugs usually get dropped, but that doesn't mean that you won't get busted for possession anyway.

It's sick. It's another gestapo-tool of the growing american police state.

It's a dumb program that teaches condemnation rather than responsibility. Lok, it's good to have a good civic mind, but this program screams mccarthyism. Inform on your family and friends, and the police will like you.

Yep. But we know that 'sense' and 'government' seem to be mutually exclusive concepts.
