The last five years since I quit church have been a blast...premarital sex and masturbation, alcohol, mind altering drugs, real feelings of happiness, original thinking, FUN...and lots lots more, and the greatest part of all folks it that its been entirely guilt free

If you guys are right i'd rather give myself to sin and go to hell with all my friends. We'll be able to have barbecues and run naked around the fires. There will be plenty of company, all the hipforums atheists, sex fiends, hippies, stoners...

so what do you say, wan't to make a date and party with us down in hades? I'll supply the beer

Forgive me for being cuss, I honestly want to know why you would or wouldn't want to give your life to the fruits of the flesh...it seems like the better way to go...whats your opinion?

 

I reckon sin is a church-made invention for filling the cash register with guilt-driven donations. Just look back at the hisorical "fire & brimstone" preaching against sin compared to the ever-accumulating wealth of the church, and there's the proof.
I wouldn't advocate going around doing "wrong" though. I believe that if it feels good, it is good. If it feels bad, it is bad. Booze is a good example ~ drink the "right amount" = good feelings. Drink the "wrong amount" = bad feelings (brawls, vomit, hangover....). same formula for everything else of the flesh. Feelings never lie & always tell the truth. Trust 'em with your life, 'cause that's all you can trust in a world of deceit.
Hope the gates to your fields of lying open soon..............Freedom is indeed the most wonderful sensation after the prison of religion.

 

I'm with you there brother. That point of "not going around doing wrong" brings me to a little observation I have made in life. I know satanists, paganist hippies, atheist anarchists, sex fiends, stoners, not to mention whole other spectrums of people destined for fire and brimstone. The kindess that stems from being simply human is astounding, these people are all civilised, understanding and highly moral. Now lets move on to the masses of modern born agains who use God as an excuse to be greedy and materialistic (prosperity doctrine), murderous and anti-choice (anti-gay, anti-abortion, pro death penalty) and down right propaganderous (irreducible complexity, Evolution = Death doctrine)....ok, i'll stop there in respect of the Christians who actually get it. I'm simply launching a verbal assault on the ludicrous idea that morality or humanity are products of God, I am in no way advocating that we should go round murdering or doing wrong by other human beings. I'm ready to dismiss every page of the bible in favour of a simple idea - Do what you feel like as long as you're not shitting on others.

Giving into the material plane as the only plane which is what you suggest as a betterway is the pathway to hell, but not the pathway to hell that the fundemenalist chirstians talk about... It is the pathway to attachment to certain sensory experiences which leads to hellish experiences in the mind and suffering, and causes the suffering of others. Yet this hell is not a permeanant place, it is just a temporary state... (not that thier aren't hellish planets or hellish universes or hellish astral planes) but reguardless of where you are... you can BE IN HEAVEN, by CHANGING you head. By BEING HERE NOW, and realizing your oneness with it all, the ONE CONSCIOUSNESS that is the truth. That is all things. Then...

As a tantric yogin... I feel that all sensory experience, sex, masterbation, drugs and so on... are doorways to the one consciousness... just as meditation, yoga, and so on are. All in moderation of course, and you can never excessively meditate.

The point is whatever you are doing, shouldn't stop you, from BEING HERE NOW, and REALIZING WHO YOU ARE... THE ONE CONSCIOUSNESS

And the EVER-NEW BLISS of UNION IN REALIZASATION... blows away all the fruits of the flesh and puts them in thier place.

All flesh experiences and so on, rust and corrupt, they don't last, they don't fulfill...

Yet the MOMENT, THE HERE NOW. is a treasure that will never rust and corrupt. IT IS AN ETERNAL TREASURE, because the part of YOU, who is BEYOND SUFFERING, waiting for you to wake up from the dream, and MERGE with IT. IT IS ALWAYS HERE NOW, even in your darkest moments.

So make the HERE NOW your treasure, not the fruits of the flesh... and if you must pursue the flesh in the way you do, at least do it in a a tantric way.

I think whether you believe in god or not, if you only act for your own pleasure you're bound to be shitting on someone somewhere down the line.

Sometimes I get the feeling things like heaven/hell, karma etc. are invented by good ppl who are only human and need to at least believe that others selfish actions will be punished. In their (and my) eyes it isn't fair that they act in a selfless manner, to act in a manner where they lose out and other ppl gain, when there are ppl that will gladly only care about themselves and hurt other ppl in favour of their own pleasure. Or something, lol.

 

'Doing what you feel like' is different from 'acting for your own pleasure'...if you do what you feel like without shitting on others, some sort of kindness input would be required from all the persons concerned in order to get the best out of the philosophy. It is my belief that those in a situation of freedom as opposed to people who hold firmly to rigid moral codes can develop the empathy to possess real kindness, that is to 'feel like doing kind acts' whilst a religious fundamentalist will act according to a intellectually forced or structured kindness, which will often be pushed aside in favour of prejudice..this isn't to say that someone like Jesus or St. Francis of Assissi didn't possess some sort of intangible deeply ingrained human kindness, I don't know what im rambling about but It fills me with frustration that someone can put more faith with words or ideas from some fat book written 2000 years ago without looking into themselves and finding out what one of God's creations is really capable of..sorry i'm stoned

 

It is always a good idea to communicate in a respectful manner, whether you are with royalty or the homeless. It is never the poorer choice. Anyone can be polite to a king, but it takes a special person to be polite to a beggar. Rudeness is a weak mans imitation of strength. Imagine if ol' Satan himself had an issue with foul language? Talk about getting off on the wrong foot. You could end up making your stay a living hell. But, if I do see you there, then I hope you join me and my co-conspirators in our plans for a coup.
