How can there not be a G-d? If eternity exists, where'd it come from? So, out of a 'bang' came an eternal universe. How'd it get eternel? Why'd it get eternal? How was that possible without the supernatural being involved?? Just some random thought....
Hello, RYU. Good questions, but I think most people are troubled by the concept of eternity - that is so because most people have a linear concept of time.
If God exists, where did God come from? Out of the void came the eternal God? How did God get eternal? Why is God eternal? How was it possible without a supernatural being involved? Ryupower, do you not see the viciously cyclical argument here? The same question can be applied to God, if God is eternal. However, I do pose this question: What if this universe is a part of God? Think about that. What if this Universe does not need a Creator, because it is a part of Him/Her/It already? Like the dreamer and the dream. The painter and the painting. Think about that. I also pose another possibility: Can one 'know' eternity? Humanity's mind is indeed powerful, capable Of great conceptual understanding, However, can thought grasp the infinite? Are we capable of Observing that which is beyond time, eternity? Perhaps we cannot, and thus we ask questions like: How can something come from nothing? We have a linear consciousness, as Daniel Herring has pointed out. Perhaps eternity, God, infinity cannot be 'known', For our thought process implies dividing up, weighing out and judging "This" from "that". Perhaps one must learn to be silent of the mind, and discover Beyond words, Beyond thoughts, The direct perception of that which is beyond time, beyond space, beyond the mind to grasp.
What if Smurfs created the Universe and Gargamel, who created the Smurfs, is really Evil God on his invisible, intangible mountain castle laughing at all our calamity and every once in a while he will allow a Smurf to intervene for the good (a miracle), but then, it goes back to the same old grind... MUAHAHAHAHHAA....oh, and Azrael the Demon-Cat is the true cause of tornadoes, hurricanes, and other disasters.
Man cannot contemplate Eternity, although he can have or get a feeling of eternity, of timelessness. Where is time when you are in love? "God is love". Forget about trying to contemplate God and find Him instead.
Err why? Why would eternity require a god? God is a human concept.. Or rather the idea of a god or gods.. God is real, but only in that god is a word, a concept.
Eternity is eternity is infinity is is is is blah blah blah etc. No other way to explain it than itself.
the way i see it daniel " is like we are tested ( want for a better word ) god gives us free will to find our own paths in life . i know for me personally " that i have become more of a spiritual person as i continue on the path i am on now . when i pass over (maybe ) god will see that i have started to gain knowledge and wisdom on a spiritual level " hence " my spirit and soul will be reincarnated ..............hmm.........just a thought ....peace
My take on such questions is that we aren't here necessarily to "understand" anything at all. We are here to be, and in this incarnation it is our lot to be human. But we fail miserably from the moment that we constrain ourselves into models of knowledge accumulation rather than simply being ourselves, and trying to understand that which is beyond the limitations of our state of being. We have been given the most beautuiful gift of self-being, but no one is satisfied. They want more, like eternal life for fear of dying. How does an electron understand a molecule? Yet it is part of it. How does a sand grain understand the ocean? Yet it is part of it. How does a blade of grass understand a savanna? Yet it is part of it. How does a stone understand a planet? Yet it is part of it. How does a star understand a galaxy? Yet it is part of it. How does a human understand existence? Yet it is part of it. Nothing understands itself because the fact is that everything is in a state of being, so being must be the true intention. Cats being cats, dogs being dogs, lions being lions, trees being trees, people being people. Being true to their "selves." If we were each one of us true to our individual reason for being - our "self", life would be pure experiential freedom as evidenced by the nature of creation in this universe. But chains were locked into our ability to freely think by sinister beings with agenda's of power and material wealth who impregnated truth with lies so as the deceive even the very elect. To this day they have mostly succeeded. Only by knowing the truth can anyone be set free.
