Me and my friends were talking about abortion and fathers.

it got me thinking.

my friend was telling me how his ex got an abortion without telling him she was even pregnant. he was very upset about it and he thought that wasnt right because he wanted it

I agree with this. If the guy is in a stable enough environment and wants the baby, then the woman should have it and give it to the father

if the woman really didnt want it, she can sign papers over to the father

But im tied between both. Im for woman and im for man (only if hes stable enough)

I dont agree with it if the father was a mean alcoholic/druggie and wanted it. But i think the court would discard that too

I think it is the womans choice since it is her body but come on its a human life and i honestly would rather see it adopted then aborted, yet I wont go around telling people what to do

 

That's a very hard question, and it'll draw a lot of 'it's the woman's choice' arguments. Personally, I agree with you: although the woman carries the child, the father is an equal party to its life and death. If he wants to raise it, it's stupid to abort it.

If I wanted an abortion, there is no fucking way I would carry the baby for 9 months of my life, then go through the INDESCRIBABLE pain of birthing it, to give it to the father. I would not destroy my body or put myself through a pregnancy just so that he could take it in the end.

I would discuss it with him, however, before I did it. Let him know what's going on, and what I planned to do about it. It seems a bit unfair to make these kinds of monumental decisions without even talking to him about it, refusing to even listen to his opinion or feelings. That being said I've been with my guy for a year and a half, if I had been with him for a month or 3, I would probably make the choice myself. If you're in a committed, long-term relationship with someone it goes without saying that it's only fair to them that they be included, but if you've only been together a short while and don't have a deep emotional relationship yet, and you know for sure what you want, then I'd say it's up to you.
