who was the genius in creating it?

Now dont get me wrong I still believe in God but in a different POV they think and feel that Christianity is just a tool to control people! how can such 2250 page book be created and designed to control us? like in the Zietgiest(which I know has alot of miss information) its states that Christianity is just a mind control tool.

I think "religions" in many sense are very valid, and paths from god, to become one with him. However, I think it's been humans that realized they could use it to control people.

The theory I've heard is that it was created by those in power in Rome to unite the empire under one spiritual banner. I think it's pretty easy to see why it seems like mind control...the book as it's translated in the KJV reads like one of those old whale harpoons that penetrate the target and when the target tries to pull out and away, sharp pronged hooks that curve backwards cause intense pain as it's being pulled out.

It's believe or die, it doesn't give you much of a choice as a story.

so a small sect created christianity only later to be oppressed by the Romans who later you claim created it?

I will never decide if those who choose one path are not fully spiritual. So I don't know if there is a need. It's many people's beliefs and positive feelings that their one path works very well for them then maybe there isn't. I just don't like the idea of only one true path.

I have to disagree here I think theirs only one true way! if a "creator" created us why would he set up multi ways? why not just one much easier no? with multi ways theirs divisions.

I have to disagree THERE. So obviously there is no in between on the religious subject, although it's pretty obvious the multi-perspective perspective is about as balanced as you can get. But that's only looking for agreeance in our daily lives. I really just don't think that all the religions are THAT different where there has to be one real way. Just you Christ lubers claim to be so different because according to you, Jesus said so. What is clear though, and what I like about Christianity, is it's about God's love (Jesus) and that is a very important thing to remember when looking for hope and positivity. "Your love keep's lifting me higher and higher."

Do you really think ultimate enlightenment is only as simple as you say? That the spiritual realm doesn't get any deeper than what you all believe?

And doesn't it bother you that when you look at humanity as a whole, you can not see true god in anyone other than your own believers? And if you say God is in all humans it still doesn't mean you don't think they're doomed to godlessness.

And actually it's my perspective that none of the religions are completely right, but instead they old hold validity to help us on our own path to enlightenment. It is true transcendence to believe beyond what is offered in one group of humans interpretation of god. Enlightenment is about transcendence.

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I dont know, man, it's just clear to me that your perspective is close minded. I am allowed to believe that when religiolites are allowed to believe other paths lead to damnation. However, I ask for forgiveness from God, and take that back because I know A LOT of Christian's aren't like that, just the ones that want to argue.

If you want my fuller perspective on the issue, read what I wrote in the "Christianity Really?" thread. It's the same damn thing over and over again, and I hope to God I soon will remove myself from this subsection of Hipforums and discussion in order for me to focus on the non-logical side of things and follow my path. It is my decision to continue, and a good example of humans choosing themselves over the higher power.

Also check this thread out it's very awesome, if you have capacity. http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=387182

It talks about duality, and how that perspective is offered in the Holy Trinity. I don't know.

Why would a creator set up multiple paths to finding him? I can think of some good reasons, and I'm just a human like you. How about because there are so many different people in different areas of the world, and for a long time, for the bulk of history, cultures have been pretty isolated from each other, so a good chunk of people who have born never had a chance to hear about Christianity. So what do you think, those Buddhists and Vedic people are burning in hell now? God gave them life and no way of finding him, do you really believe that?

If God only created Christianity as a path, what about everyone born before Jesus, or born in areas of the world that Christianity hasn't reached?

Here's something to think about. What if the creator created all of these paths merely to keep order in the world? He wants certain people to believe in Christianity, others in Islam, and hes alright with us fighting each other, because there must be some fighting, some outlet for that kind of energy. What if its all just a circus, a show going on, to keep God from getting bored or lonely? Maybe it's imperative that there are Christians working tirelessly to try to convert everyone to their truth, and its just part of the balance.

Have you ever thought of the possibility that God is a trickster with a sense of humor far more advanced than you can comprehend? Or how about if you are just a cell of God, a little speck on his finger, and that the cells in your own body worship your consciousness as a God, although your consciousness is just an illusion, a hologram created by all of the living cells of your body?

Each cell is constructed of atoms, and these atoms are also conscious, and they are also made up of smaller particles, which are made up of smaller components, etc. etc. down to infinite smallness, and up through solar systems, galaxies, universes?

    Etc. etc. etc.

Who knows? Could you really disprove what I just wrote though?

Just because there are many different roads doesn't mean they're all fully correct. They all claim to be the true one so there is no way they can be simotaniusly true.

However, I believe if you are honastly seeking the truth, god will accept that, even if you guessed wrong amidst the sea of truths. God hasn't really done anything noticable in the last 2000 years. He hasn't smote anyone, he hasn't turned any ociens to blood, or parted any seas. He didn't let the Jews conquer Hitler by marching around Germany seven times.

He hasn't given many signs for which religion to follow, and he's a sadistic freak if he really expects us to somehow find and follow the one true path or suffer eternal damnation.

If you know that the Zietgeist is a lot of misinformation, which is correct, why would you give any credence to its claim that Christianity is just a mind control tool? The same could certainly be said of the Zeitgeist. Why do you think it was produced? I don't think Christianity was created as a tool to control people, although in the hands of unscrupulous clerics it has too often become just that.
Let me guess. The "one true way" is the way you believe in. Unfortunately, there are lots of folks (al Qaida, for example) who believe that the "one true way' is their way and yours is the wrong way. If the Creator created us, why did He allow that to happen, which he obviously did? I don't know. But I do know that it's all to common for people to think that their own beliefs and values are the best and ordained by God, and there's a sorry history of violence resulting from that simpleminded notion.

    i like this thread.
a number of people thinking on the same frequency.

god's a sadistic freak who enjoys watching his creations bicker.
    lol
    i agree.

i also came to pretty much the same conclusion on my own.
i interpreted it as "god" "talking" to me.
but in a more real world perspective i knew it was my cerebral cortex at work.

religion in general is design to keep people from killing each other by establishing guidelines to follow. but because no man is that much better then another their must be a higher entity involved somewhere.

but mixing personal beliefs with ancient traditions and oppresive new radical ideologies from a "who the fuck are you?" faction and you got your self a shit fest.

been like that for thousands of years and still is. *coughsafghanistancough*

Yeah that's pretty much it. Everyone has their own interpretation of the bible, or any other book or inscription or cave painting for that matter. What we have are people who pick and choose from the bible until they arrive at a perspective that is convenient for them.

I always hear that the Bible is a control device but what exactly is it controlling? Seriously, what is it controlling?

I have thought about this and I haven't come up with anything legitimate that actually goes along with what the Bible says.

Do people even know how the Bible came to be? It's like people believe that some guys were sitting around at a table smoking cigars trying to figure out how to control the masses to gain power for themselves.

In reality the canon was written by all walks of life under inspiration. As a Christian that inspiration was from God, but basically these people just wrote what they felt was important to write.

They were just people writing from the heart. It has nothing to do with what people imagine it to be; It's has nothing to do with the 'establishment'. Actually, it seems to dislike the establishment but gives warnings on how to protect yourself from that establishment. The Bible calls this, 'The human courts' and says what to do as to limit the sting of human laws. Throughout the Bible it even gives accounts of people refusing to do what the human courts asks but doing what God asks. As in refusing to do wrong and being punished by humans regardless of not doing anything other than breaking the laws of the government.

There is no force involved and people choose to listen or they don't.
