This didn't quite belong anywhere, so I just decided to throw it in here. Ok... this is somthing I wrote. And I'm curiose about yalls oppinion... I wrote it after a friend of mine told me I was going through an Identity crisis (which im sure I am) after I told her I wanted to become a vegitarian, and get dreadlocks (which Im gettin done tommoro) (note: this isn't a poem, its jus how I word things when I write my thoughts) Who am I? I suffer from an identity crisis But do i truly need an identity? am I truly an individual? can't I simply exist without being anyone? a lonely thought at first, but with further analyses, it's not. it is simply existing without the label... In the end, none of us are anything but the reality we subject ourselfs to, this reality being nothing more than the ellaborate illusion we put ourselves though to experiance new things. so, if everyone is really no one then arent't we all the same? aren't we just pieces of -one- we are infact one another and if we are in fact simply subject to our selfcreated reality, then we are subject to its fate... so why go through the process of conforming to society? society being your realitys barrior... your opperating system so to speak, that gives you your rules and guidelines to follow. so if we are simply along for the ride.. how and why do we choose who we want to be? why have and identity at all? why be somthing we cannot? somthing cannot be nothing, and nothing cannot be somthing and if we are all noone then why should we want or try to be somone?
Sounds like Vedanta philosophy/mysticism. I agree in most part. Maybe we believe the illusion that we are seperate individuals (the ego-lie) out of boredom. Maybe the One, after being it's Oneness for eternity, decided to put on a play, and forget what it was, in search of some sort of suprise. It became Many, and the Many believed they were seperate. Thus the One puts on a cosmic drama. That's part of Vedanta, it's a neat idea, I like to play around with it and see where it goes. You could try reading some stuff by Alan Watts for a clear explanation of what sort of philosophy this is, described in Western lingo, rather than in Eastern spiritualism. Might make it more accessible. Try "The Book, On the taboo of knowing who we are" for starters.
watts has some great reads something is nothing and nothing is something though.......... concepts: 1.society 2.individuals 3.all truth: 1. 2. do i need to go on?
