the first 2 images are the ones i have my hopes on. they all have a small nipple on the top, slightly raised, where the color is darker.

    Psilocybe semilanceata..

you can examine pictures and colors with google..

they all look fine to me, if they came from the same cluster, then they are all the same.

you should dry them with a fan. before they gel up on you. since they have much moisture in them.

Id cant give you dosing instructions. other than eat 3 or 4 then 3 and 4 more..

The first two pictures are very likely a species of Panaeolus ( gray/black speckled gills)

Please take a spore print and also give us some better pictures of the the specimens from the top and side view.

Any bluing reaction where bruised? Where in the world are you?

Pan Cyans usually grow in tall grass in well manured soil and not directly from manure piles.

The other looks similar to Panaeolus cinctulus but the stems don't look right.

If they were growing directly from manure piles then they are probably not Psilocybe semilanceata.

Liberty caps do not commony grow on manure

Hello again, thanks for the interest. i am currently uploading some more pictures, some side views. i will post a link to my photo bucket so you can view... which i think is http://s811.photobucket.com/profile/awhi02/index my user name is awhi02 anyways if that does not work. i didnt know what a spore print was so i just squished a head onto paper. and have now put a head on some paper and covered with a glass. hopefully it wont get all slimey tonight. the rest are infront of a fan and drying, in hope i have found myself a little treat. is there a guide on here for taking pictures for identification.... that is if my pics are usless.

I am Located in Colchester, essex, England. i found the mushrooms about 15m above sea level, on a hill, growing from a pile of manure that had been there for a while. next to a woods, but in the grassy paddock.

there are 2 types, one type are more golden and damp looking, with a shiny surface. they have become darker around the edges where bruised i think. the others dont seam to have any bruising, just getting darker in color over the past few hours. they are quite brittle. non of them where growing in a tight cluster. all spread around a 2m squared pile of manure. i can peal the top layer off these like a portobelo mushroom or breakfast mushroom. not on the other ones.

Check the tip of the stem where you broke them off when picking them...... that is where you should see bluing. Liberty caps are very common in your area in grassy fields that are well manured....but the problem with Liberty Cap is they do not always blue and can be a bitch to get a decent spore print. They are usually found in the fall and not in the summer time in England and almost never on manure...but that doesn't mean they are not Liberty Caps.

For pictures just lay them flat on a table and snap a side view.... also show the full stems.

That top layer you are talking about is the peelable pellicle and it is an important identification characteristic for liberty caps.

After looking at your new pictures I would have to agree that they are very likely Liberty Caps.

Def take a spore print to verify.

Also I would be interested in acquiring a few wild Liberty Cap prints so if you can find more and can get a decent print I would be willing to pay you for them.

I could be wrong, but arent Liberty caps mostly found in the autumn in the UK? I remember finding some mushrooms that looked very similar to those, and they turned out to be some inactive Paneolus variety. Theyre certainly not toxic though, so the best way to find out is just to try them!
Nice link to that book btw, Grain....really useful! :)

I would only risk eating the brownish ones with the pronounced nipple, peelable pellicle layer, bottom of the cap curls in and has black spores.
