I overheard a conversation about this in my OB/GYN's office, so I guess it'strue. There wasanother pregnant woman there, and the only part of the conversation I heardwas that craving ice did indicate low iron, and the doc said something about giving her prenatal vitamins with iron.

So, unless he was full of shit, I'd assume yes, it means you have low iron.

most likely yes he was full of shit....... that way the patient does not feel like she is being ripped off by the high bill.....about 50% of the female population has a low iron count

well, during my first pregnancy I had low iron, and I got prenats w/ iron. During my other 2, my iron was fine so I got regular prenats....they still had iron, just a lower dose of it. They cost about the same. So if he was trying to rip her off, he was doing a piss poor job of it.

And I have high iron...last time they checked it my count was at a 16. :p

So I guess I'm in the top 50%, as if that had anything to do with this at all. :p

supposedly too much iron can spped up tumor growths and shit. It stores itself in your body, and you don't lose it very easily. It can cause damage to your organs, maybe even cause heart attacks and stokes.

some due....because of a poor diet, but not all

veggie based iron is harder to absorb then meat based.....but if you eat it with vitamin C then it makes the iron easier to absorb...they would have to pay more attention to there diet and make sure to include more high iron foods.
