In Chicago, I think on Tuesday... It's No Pants Day or whatever. So, you can go on the CTA without pants, to embrace the cold winter. All in all, I'm a no go with anything that has to do with the cold. The cold really hurts my body. Like really hurts. So, I can't do the cold. I do enjoy the cold. I don't hate it. It's just I know my limitations. And I have to listen to that over throwing myself in a mountain of snow. But, trust me... I would do it if I could.
I use to try to surf in the Pacific ocean around Santa Cruz. I couldn't take how cold the water was there, my ears would ache like hell. No, I will do no ice swimming.
Ice water swimming is fantastically invigorating. Well I don't do ice swimming but when the warmer months arrive I always have fun finding secluded snow melts and go for a dip. It is the cleanest you'll feel all year around and I believe it's a great way to burn unwanted calories. Many people scoff at my calorie burning theory, but I think it makes so much sense that I think whoever disagrees is a flat out idiot. But when you submerge in extreme cold water, your body needs to heat up. Thus burning calories in a desperate attempt to heat the body core up. Quite simple really. And I know it works too because whenever I'm dipping in snow melts, I'm rediculously hungry afterwards because my body has been burning so much energy.
What you say is reasonable. People have surmised that part of the reason for the increase in obesity in developed regions may be the higher comfort level, such as higher thermostat settings, which lowers the need to burn energy as heat. Excess comfort has a way of working against you with respect to weight loss and muscle gain. http://mb-soft.com/public2/diet007.html
i dont think my heart could take the shock walking barefoot in snow once in a while to go check that my truck is locked is about all i can take for cold

The polar bear club in Boston is the oldest in America and they’ve been taking the plunge on January 1st since 1914 (or 113 years) Hotwater
Lol I thought about russians before opening this thread. Saw the thread title and thought well russians dig that kind of stuff
Wow My heart is not entirely healthy, so I wouldn't risk it. I can imagine it being very invigorating though.
