A cooler, coiled copper tubing, and a can of automotive freon ... Would create a self cooling cooler, but would it make ice? No patent on the idea, so someone might be able to monotinize on the idea. Give it a go and see how much you can make and save on bags of ice. I think a small hole and a filter at end of copper coil might be beneficial, and a valve to adjust the freon flow would too.

My guess is it's a money maker. Money has benefit but not my thing. I get a small allowance and I guess I wanna see if I can get by better than pretty good on it.

    Just an idea.

My first thought upon reading the title was of the Tesla truck, as in "can it make ice?". Lame joke.. anyway.

I actually was bitching about the cost of ice this morning. You see I have to ice my knee because the doctor said to. And I was telling someone that the ice pack seems ineffective. She acknowledged that and suggested buying a bag of ice at the store. The problem with that is I don't need but several cubes to ice my knee. I'd be better off just getting an ice cube tray, but the freezer right now is full of other things; ice packs among them. So I will settle for my ice pack.

    Cool invention! :)

    You'd need a compressor too.

Yeah you can make a pressurized device with copper tubing with Freon it's called an air conditioner or a refrigerator..

There once was some type of insulated can with freon on the outside of a can and you can shake it up and it would cool
the interior of the can . I don't think it went over to well because of the aerosol release in the environment.

You think? A can of freon, copper coil, a way to attach the freon to the coil, a small hole and filtered end, and the coil itself will freeze up, and ice build on it. No compressor needed.

Just a slight trickle would do to make ice build on the coil. If you add water, it might freeze. If not you got a make shift a/c unit or a self cooling cooler for your food and drinks.

I guess the filter might compensate for the aresol? I don't know about that part. Hell what about hairspray, paint, butane, and other under pressure thing a ma jigs?
