Getting a tattoo of a tear by my eye in memory of my recently deceased Wife. I'm really keen on the idea, but I'm afraid it might hinder some future job interviews.

I've never really been a fan of that tear tattoo thing... around here it has some gang meanings that are, well, not terribly good. Did you have any other thoughts on commemorative/memorial tattoos for her?

Her initials and the dates she was born and died in fancy lettering somewhere on my arm.

when me pal Stevie passed, i thought of getting a guitar (we used to jam a lot together) tattoo on my arm with his initials. did she have any passions or hobbies that you could remember her by?

Making hemp jewelry, but I've been wearing one of my favorite pieces that she made before she died.

The tear thing...around these parts...means that you did serious jail time :-/
    Also associated with gangs :-/

Around here it's (the tear) associated with gangs as well.

i thought it meant you've killed somebody and served time for it...
    so...i'm not sure that's a very good idea :&

As stated above, I don't think the tear idea is very good, just because of the negative reputation associated with it.

The tear by the eye is a tattoo you get in prison for murder. If that's the sort of image you want to portray....that you're a murderer, go for it. If not, it's not really a good idea. ;)

I like that idea... along with maybe a symbol/picture of something that sorta signifies her, or was important to her. A portrait would be really beautiful if done right, but good tattoo portrait artists are pretty damn hard to find

Thanks all. I've pretty much tossed the tear out the door. I didn't really study up on it's backround. That's why I like this site.

Sorry to hear about your boyfriend, Court.

Yea, a portrait sounds like a good idea....but as was said, a good portrait artist is hard to find.

I like this idea. Having the eye encircled or arced over (kind of like a gravestone) by a chain of hemp knotting could look really great if done right. I wish I could better illustrate the idea I'm trying to convey..
