I am now a Private! E-2, to be exact... and throughout basic training and AIT I'll be receiving over $100 more a month to somewhere in the $1,200's, but I dont know the exact dollar amount. I had to do 42 pushups, 53 situps, and run 2 miles in 15:54, but I did the running in 11:45. I have no idea how in the hell I did that. () And then there was the rank stuff, marching, reciting of the general orders... 'twas a grand day.
Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. I'm expecting BT to suck majour ass. Because it probably will, being the middle of summer and all.
I know someone else stationed at Ft. Sill. There's nothing in Oklahoma. I think... yes, I think they have cows and some grain.
Just because it isn't liked doesn't mean it's not necessary... though these days, it kinda gets out of hand. I do wish things were back to how the civil war and the revolutionary war was... Brown Bess, Springfield Armory, and bayonets. That would make it a little more romantic.
11:45? Not bad. You might be abole to shave a minute off that if you're running everyday. I never break 11. I don't run two often either. Right on Chuck.
Chuck, Congrats on your promotion, I'm proud of you!!!! That's awesome you can run two miles in less than 12 minutes. I can only run one in that time....I'm bad... Hey, will you ever be deployed across seas? Do you think you would want a pen pal? Just let me (or anyone else who might be interested) know what you think...Even when you get shipped out to Ft. Sill. I know you won't be a recluse, but sometimes it's nice to get snail mail. Take a little bit of hipfora with you
If you really want to get your numbers of pushups up. Start doing pyramids of em. 5 rest 6 rest 7 rest 8 rest up to 20 then come back down. When you're doing this start moving your hands out and up, and as you come back down move your hands back in. To get your situps up, start doing pyramids, but only go up a quarter of the way. When you get to 20, max out, then come back down. Then do pyramids of side to side. For running start running at your normal speed, then every mile sprint for a quarter mile, then go back to your run. For about three miles. I haven't run like that in years.
i used to be close to maxing the PT test but that was 2 years ago but thats a good time for the run. if your heading to bootcamp and ait this summer, thats gonna suck major ass hahaha
Ugh yeah. Hot. Damned hot. He'll get to drink lots of water though. Lots and lots of water. I maxed everything.
actually spence, fartlek training works best if you already have significant base mileage. which is of course the first way to improve speed. get up to 40 miles a week or so (slowly of course, with rest days and rest weeks). then you can start fartlek
all my friends who've gone during the summer says it sucks balls. BDU's with flak jackets on, boots...hahaha yup, drinking lots and lots of water. i could max the run and situps, could never get the pushups. shoulder problems. now i can't even come close to any of them
I've heard of it, but never really checked it out. I never had much of a reason to push myself above 3 miles a day. I'll check it out when (if) I start really conditioning again.
