I felt the same way, it left me with a feeling of wanting to know more. From Europe I really like Denmark, also New Zealand and Ireland
Copenhagen Denmark is beautiful! It is a must that you meet a local (via couch surfing) and see if you can borrow a bike (not the shitty city ones). Riding through the streets of Copenhagen is one of the most beautiful ways to feel free. The whole biking system over there is superb (better than Amsterdam IM0). They have bike paths on basically all the roads, on both sides (as opposed to Amsterdam which does not have them all over and usually has paths on one side of the road). Also in Copenhagen you don't have to worry about crashing into stupid stoners, so biking in Copenhagen is way better than Amsterdam IMO. Way more structured and less chaotic. I also loved Sweden. It was sunny and 30 (90) degrees the entire eight days I was there. Maybe a total of one hour of rain the whole time I was there. Plus getting out into nature will remind you of Canada perhaps with all the lakes surrounded by pine trees. I had a love/hate relationship with Norway because it is fucking expensive as all hell and they don't have a summer (from what I saw) on the west coast. But the scenery is breathtaking! Just rent a car, but be ready to fork over 350-400 euros for less than a week, and that does not include gas. Some places quoted us for 700-900 euros for a week. Norway is amazingly expensive...everyone there makes 18-20 euros an hour.
? Anyways, Ireland is beautiful! Again, like Norway, rent a car and take a lot of time to explore around. After Norway, Ireland is nothing as far as costs. I think it was 250 euros for 10 days rental, plus gas. Seemed a lot at the time, but we than went to Norway a month later and really paid up the butt to get a car.
haha, I said New Zealand I was looking at pictures yesterday that a friend sent me, I guess it stayed on my mind. Still is one of my favorite places to go, just not in Europe
I don't have thousands of dollars to spend I suppose I could go on a few viking raids and pillage some villages but these days people are so quick to label you a terrorist when you do that sort of thing
You don't need thousands... I went on a tour of six Euro countries for nine and a half weeks on 800-900 dollars. And that includes Norway. I am dirt poor. Found a plane ticket roundtrip for 650 in June. I mean, yah, if yo have 1500 total, couchsurfing, hitch hiking, savvy ways to get cheap transport and a willingness to dumpster dive even (I didn't do that) you can go on next to nothing. I think I have spent to much. Sooooo, Just doooo it!
