A lot depends on how they're cooked. I just acquired a bike for the purpose of varying my cardio. Gotta find some decent bike paths in Ct because motorists tend not to be nice about sharing the road.
Actually bicycles are considered vehicles and are expected to abide by the rules as motorists... stop signs, (hand) signaling turns, etc... bicyclists are not considered pedestrians unless they get off their bikes and carry them... and in a crosswalk they would have unquestioned right of way... otherwise being on a bike does not grant legal advantage on the road. The legal parity with autos creates a bit of a weight disadvantage and too many motorists would happily use the lethal size to their advantage.
yeah, just wondering because I understand jay walking is ilegal so I wasnt sure if motorists had right of way on the roads there.
I always J walk lol. Cops don't even bother with it here lol, stuff like that and not wearing a helmet when you ride a bike.
I know in a crosswalk they do- technically... not sure about otherwise but I think you're correct... but in the context of this discussion it is beside the point as bicyclists are not pedestrians.
Here bikes are legally considered as vehicles..doesn't stop everyone from riding on the pavement (hell I do it myself). My city has the highest concentration of bikes in the UK, so the police are basically powerless to stop a) bikes flaunting road law and b) bike theft.
I'll sell you my Trek beach cruiser for $500... That would get me enough to get a newer model. I want to get a Trek mountain bike but that would cost me like $700 after I made it costom. I might end up getting a motercycle if I get off my as and learn to drive/ride. I'll look into a Vincent Black Shadow.
Well I'm not gonna get the one I linked to for sure. It isn't full Cromoly (basically a lighter, stronger mixture of steel) and it is way too small of a frame for me. I just really really like the color, lol. I'm looking at some Kink bikes and maybe another DK. I'll probably go up to a bike shop once I get my car back and see if they have any models that can give me ideas.
Cool... It's a great way to enjoy the nice weather I think. I'd probably never had actually gone out and bought one but a buddy gave me his old bike when he bought a new one. I need to figure out when I'm going to actually use it.
It's been decades since I've ridden... gotta find an open parking lot to re-orient myself and find that comfort zone again. There was a time when I went everywhere on my bike. I'm not exactly looking forward to falling myself- things tend to heal a hell of a lot slower these days! Savor your youth!
