I wanna give up on the idea that "I" contemplate on life more than the average person

    UPDATE: I'm healed! (for now)

-- it's driving me apart from the social world, I have a sneaking suspicion it defintely can't be true, and I spent my time at a bar last weekend contemplating on the "shallow aims of people and their unwillingless to completely open up and see the world" or some bullshit, all the meanwhile sitting at the corner of the bar drinking alone and contemplating to myself (read: possible self ego-felacio).

Anyone else have experience with this or a related comment? Is what I am asking making sense (Can explain more if not)?

Perhaps it's true I may take the happenings in my brain to further introspective extremes than others, but I am starting to think (and now believe) that I share less in common with "the average person" and I want someone to slap me in the face and show me the error of my ways.

Does the average person find the idea of taking LSD to further ponder about the world fascinating?
Do they spend mental headspace outsice of 'booty' and "Car rims" as Writer eloquently put it. :)p)

Does the average person .... I dunno, do random intellectual crap that would at least make me feel like 'Hey, cool, we are all always-thinking nerds on the inside'

    Sincerley trying,
    koku

**I ask here because the types of minds drawn to this part of the forum, are the exact types of minds I would feel at ease if I knew existed in others**

LOL, been there. like every day :D

    This is what I've learned:

    1. it may be the case that you do contemplate trippy things more than "the average person"

    2. this does not make you any different than some guy who contemplates car rims more than you

    3. "the average person" is a mental idea that may get you into more trouble than it's worth to take very seriously as a concept

    4. do yo thang

    5. the average person thinks LSD is a dangerous addictive dirty drug that will make you go crazy

    6. continue watching yourself in these situations (alone at a bar in ego-fellatio  )and if it bothers you that you're acting this way, make slow changes. look at why you don't like "the average person" and their world anymore. What do you think their reaction would be if you explained to them why. etc.

Lol, what makes you think that you are deeper than other people or that you are really seeing the world? Sounds delusional to me.
Or what makes you even think that introspection is more valuable than extroversion?
Who cares man, you're on an ego-trip. You need to see the value in each person and the validity of their experience, regardless if that person has eaten a piece of paper with LSD on it and then sits alone in bars "thinking" or not.

Just for reference this is what plays in my head as I walk around the streets on idyllic, cold Autumn mornings thinking about how I tripped that one time and how I'm now better than everyone else because of it.

By 'trippyness in brain,' I just meant the whole experience of being human, a conscious being, wherever you label it. Not neccesarily LSD.

Neo, I will get to your response too. I knew you'd be around to say something like that.
Same to Writer, I see some good rules in there... areas of 'learnt experience' I could borrow from your legwork.

--Oh, and I am actually pretty hardcore extrovert, which makes the whole thing very confusing and interesting. I realizing I am being less and less extro less often lately, though... ;(

*I will catch up to the replies, and will give them some thought and time before I respond, but also appreciate any further input from others.**

I think I might know what you're talking about. For awhile I felt that I stood out because I seemed to ask questions nobody else seemed to be asking, or I thought that I thought about things others probably don't think about. At first I felt, "Poor me, fuck them." But then I realised that I was the worst factor contributing to my own feelings of separation. My problem wasn't that I thought more than others or thought about "deeper" things. The problem was that I was a self richeous misanthrope. What I perceived to be a division between the way I thought and the way others think was, for the most part, a defence mechanism of my own ego.

Nobody wants to feel like they're just like everyone else and nobody wants to feel like they're part of the "problem." But the truth is that we're all alike for the most part and we're all in it together.

You may feel there's a difference between the way you think and the way others think. That's most likely because you question things, things that others may not bother to question. That doesn't make your thoughts any better or more valid, nor theirs any less. Some people are just not taught to question things in life, and unfortunately schools no longer teach kids to question things.

People's aims can seem shallow when you analyse them with your own mind or compare them to that of your own. This would be like comparing a doctors house to a homeless shelter and saying that the shelter is shit. Tell that to the people who stay there who don't have to sleep on the street.

There will always be people in life who are happy to go through it, not questioning things, making a living for "the man," and that's okay. That doesn't make them any less intellectual. Besides, most of the time those people who work for the man pay more taxes, thus contributing more to society; parks we hang out in, bike paths we use, roads we use, etc.

So, you can go through life drinking alone in the corner of a bar, or you can accept the fact not everyone is going to be a deep thinker in life, that doesn't make their experience any less valid or interesting. Accept people for what they are and know your audience. If you like to have stimulating conversations, save them for others who think the same way. Don't try and have them with someone who doesn't think that way and then call them simple minded because of it.

It sounds more like you just need an outlet for your thoughts and ideas. Perhaps you could try and find one.
