They told me they were homeless, that their car had been stolen, that they had been in California and Portland and were looking to get back to Phoenix. I was going to a Keith Urban concert in Phoenix. They popped open a tin can full of weed in their camground in the woods. It was raining and the rain soaked their shitty, smelly little canvas tent. They had been homeless for months. He was a dashing looking fellow although now unbathed and dirty. He resembled Tim McGraw. He rolled into her town on a hippy bus and when the bus embarked and its riders began begging for money he decided to get off. The bus was a bad experience anyway, underage minors were being kept in vile, squalid conditions on it, being kept by alcoholic parents who weren't taking them to school or raising them properly. She fell in love with his Tim McGraw look and was a bit of a delinquent herself. A high school drop out who worked in a bowling alley, he liked her "Tinkerbell" look. She was already sort of lost at seventeen. Her parents didn't want her at home, they packed up her stuff and were thrilled that a hippy boy would "be getting her out of our house." Instead of being worried for their daughter, worried that she was going off with a stranger to travel the U.S., they helped her pack her stuff, going with the one less mouth to feed philosophy. I smoked marijuana for the first time with them. I only did it twice. I felt depressed and paranoid and in the hotels we stopped at I could barely manage a conversation with anyone my mind was so slowed down. I was prone to bipolar disorder and if you don't know if you are it's best not to do weed. I became psychotic, my thoughts disorganized, people began to refer to me as "scattered." I only smoked it a couple of times but one month later I still have memory problems. I can't remember that I left my dogs out in the cold or the stove on. Besides, marijuana isn't a hippy's dream weed. The U.S. government poured pesticides on Mexican weed and much of our weed comes from Mexico. Which mean's you are smoking pesticides. Weed also cause neurotransmitter downregulation of dopamine receptors which causes one to feel less pleasure out of life as well as upgrade of CB1 receptors in the brain which may lead to psychotic behavior. Weed isn't that safe. It's especially influential on the developing adolescent brain. So I wouldn't recommend it. Stay away.
