for someone to use suicide as a means of getting attention

Its a serious problem and not to be played with. Do you agree? Or do you think that people that play with suicide are just as sick as people that commit suicide?

I think it depends on the person. I'm sympathetic at first, but around the 4th or 5th time in two weeks that somebody's "suicidal", I stop saying "Everything will be ok." and I start saying, "I'll get the gun. Need me to pull the trigger too?".

well i've been there, people make threats because they are serious just possibly don't have the guts to do it(thats why i'm not dead) . I think if you feel like killing yourself all the time you need to seek help because you obviously have some major depression. just my two cents.

sometimes suicide is a vaible solution to a problem. I believe Judas Escariot was Justified in his decision. He turned the son of God over to men whom martyred him. I think even knowing he couldnt arise without that act would get to me.

a girl from my school in the year below me commited suicide last year

the school tried to cover it up saying it was an "accident". her friends said she talked a lot about killing herself before she did it. i just think people as young as i who kill themselves usually are overly stressed about things that really arent that important. theres a lot of pressure put on kids theses days and they tend to lose perspective about things. teachers talk up exams and all that a lot coz they want them to do well but they also make students think it's the end of the world if they dont do well. i remember in my final year at school they gave us this sheet that had hours spent studying a day and what mark you could expect. it was a total LOAD of shit, they said to get at least a credit you should be waking up at 7am and studying 14 hours a day!!! and they had 6 hours as a minimum and had pass or fail for that option. i did 5 hours a day if that much some days i did none and i still did well and im not a genius either. man i really hate my school all they care about is how they look and MONEY. greedy bastards. what is this about again? oh right suicide.

i think usually you can tell if someone is just being a silly twat or if they're serious about it

To me, numerous attempts are a clear cry for help, the person doesn't want to die.
If someone really wants to die, they will. Period.
I remember hearing about a prison suicide. At 'lights out' this fellow cut his wrists,(lengthwise up from wrist towards elbow, the other way, across, is usually unsuccessful), then he folded his arms under his stomach laying on his bed with his covers tucked in and head on the pillow facing the wall. The mattress soaked up the blood, so any guard walking by would see nothing suspicious. 8 hours later, when they found out.....he had long since achieved his goal.
If anyone kills themself, I will not judge them. It makes me sad, but it is not my place to say that they had no right to do it, or that I wouldn't have, cuz I am not them.

I think.. that if someone uses suicide as a means of getting attention, there must be something really wrong and the person should probably seek some help. That's not what a healthy person would do.. suicide is serious. :(

Great post! I agree, people should not be judged, they should be helped. Even talking about it is most-likely an indication that something is very wrong. Talking smack at them about suicide being cowardly (etc) is only going to make it worse. (psBG13 - I tried to rep ya but I'm cut off for a few more hours yet lol that "too much rep in 24 hours thing" but don't worry I'll get back to you!)

I judge people who commit suicide because it shows how little someone values life. or alternatively how little control they have over their minds. If i didnt judge them id have no way of learning from their mistakes

I guess we all judge, really, its impossible not to. But I don't think you can learn from their mistakes, only from your own.
I don't even feel confidant saying they were mistakes. If someday, godforbid, I wanna just snuff it, cuz this world no longer does zip for me, maybe that is the right choice. If not, well, I was wrong then, but who else has the right to judge? I don't think anyone does, it is my life, you havent lived it, and vice versa.
I think suicide is the wrong choice in most cases, but not all, and in those ones, it is not pathetic, or tragic, shameful, or wrong, imho.
It is courageous, noble, and respected by me as being their decision, and trusting them that they made the right one.
