today i was thinking about this. actually, i've thought about it before, but thought about it more today. i believe that plants and animals are two completely different "aliens" (if you will, in the sense of looking at earth from the p.o.v. from 'something else') and i believe there is a lot that we can learn from plants. i also believe everything living has its own spirit (everything LIVING, i'm not an animist) so i thought about it today and came up with this. when we smoke anything, we're taking what was once living, and almost, not "ingesting" but something like that, its spirit, or its soul, and allowing it to show us something. so i realized today that i want to learn from salvia. i want to communicate with "Sal." of course, in the sense that "i want" i'm not or wouldn't forcibly try to communicate with her, but merely allow what happens to happen. i feel that salvia is an extremely spiritual thing, and i just want to experiment with it, and seriously learn things from the plants own spirit. do you think it would be possible, or that it makes sense, to kind of ask the plant to sort of "show you the way"? i guess in the sense of praying, but not really... does any of this make sense?
Yes, it makes perfect sense. I suppose you could do it. My brain just went "whoa" and I was not in control of ANYTHING going on.
While I don't see things your way (I don't believe in the spirit that exists in all living things), I do agree that, symbolically, what you say makes perfect sense. And I can't say I really disagree. =) Interesting thoughts.
To go back to what you said, these are my thoughts: I do believe in a concept of "spirit." However, not the same spirit that is "soul" or "the invisible thing inside you which makes you go." I believe in spirit as "essence," "aura," "personality," or "demeanor." For example, I believe that a human could have the spirit of a lion, if he becomes enraged and attacks. Likewise, I believe in having a warrior spirit, team spirit, and the spirit of chivalrie. Not that these are tangible or even invisible but existing, but I believe in them as conceptual. Thus, I probably wouldn't say you are inhaling the spirit of Salvia when you vaporize it and inhale it. But, I would say you are inhaling the vaporized essence of Salvia. Does that make sense?
Well, I mean, yeah, that all makes sense. I guess I was really just using the word kind of vaguely. And when I said something about inhaling the smoke is inhaling the spirit. I read something that said something like "as the chemistry of the plant ran its course through my body." I kinda looked at the "chemistry of the plant" as in what it is made of. Hmm, I don't think I can make this make sense to anyone other than me. Meh =/
