They were at the aquarium and had their stingers trimmed off...:cheers2: They were friendly anyway. I also touched horseshoe crabs. I rule.
Just don't step on them at the beach. Some people pick up the shed stingers and use them as letter openers. .
They were all very soft and slimy, they have a coating to keep them from getting infections and such, you need to have wet hands to touch so you don't hurt them. There were several kinds...the cownose rays were the smallest and they would come right up and stick their face out of the water at you...spotted eagle rays were nice too. There were also 2 guitarfish (half ray, half shark) in the tank which were quite a bit bigger, my son pet one of them by accident, he only wanted to touch small ones but the big guys need love too...
I've petted sting rays too, I forget what kind though. I've also petted small sharks at the same aquarium
