I have a six page paper due next week in which I have to defend an undervalued song, artist, genre, or musical event. In the paper I have to say why it was undervalued, (it came at the wrong time period, etc.) and why it has value. Does anyone have any good ideas of a good topic?? So far I am stumped on what to write about.

    hi,

i am a music student and have done a similar thing last year.this may not grab you but it didn't me at first but once i got into it it was really interesting. you know elevator music, music on adverts etc, it is undervalued and is not considered a popular music but we hear absorb and experience it everyday. it is called ubiqitous music, that spelling may be wrong. but there are some great articles about it as well. it comes under a heading of 'what is popular'. you know how they is loads of different types of popular music, society has a tendancy to create a hierarchy on which ones are more valuable than others.
this probably hasn't helped at all.

anyways, that is the angle i would and did take.

    peace
    good luck,
    jenny
