This is a true confession... I'm really really un-funny. I think I am the only person who NEVER laughs at movies or comedy shows, or jokes, or most things people find humorous. I try to be funny sometimes and people just look at me like I've said somthing really strange, and I feel very awkward about that. I cant take a joke or playful ribbing or trash-talking either, and It interferes with my work and personal relationships. When people playfully 'mess with" me, I sometimes take it the wrong way and become very aggressive or defensive. I dont know if it is the years of being in a sour relationship, or that I don't smoke pot anymore, or just a pervasive melocholy with no legitimate cause... but it seems my sense of humor has just been dissolved from my personality. a tragic loss.
ironically I am totally NOT joking, but if you found it funny, that makes ME feel a million times better, so thank you nifty
Dude, Repeat the word "funny" to yourself over and over and soon the word will lose all meaning...hope this helps arty::rofl: :willy_nilly: :hurray:
If this does not make you giggle just a bit I do not know what will, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wixlfPnxJTo&feature=related
Honestly, just because you tend to not laugh at what others find funny, does not mean you have no sense of humor. What makes you laugh and what you find funny may be a bit more complex and a little less juvenile.
I have a really dark sense of humor, because I don't really like telling funny stories or jokes in groups(like you said, it makes me feel dumb).
look under the couch, or, if you have a sofa bed, look in there. My ex once lost his wallet in the space between the fold out sofa bed for almost 2 months, we moved with it and everything.
I'm not a fan of the "low-brow" humor that is on TV and in movies and such. But then again, political comedy is really un-funny to me also. Perhaps I need to find my niche... I say funny stuff when I'm tripping on good lsd, very clever shit, not "fucked-up tripper jibber-jabber" but wry, insightful, ironic stuff. people are usually too fucked up to get it though, when I DO manage to be humorous.
Who cares... People's sense of humor differs, I wouldn't worry about it.. I find a lot of things unfunny that most people find hilarious....
I'd say you have some emotional issues going on. I say this because you said you get defensive/aggressive. Are you insecure? Also, being in the young 20's is right about when a emotional disorder would start to break the surface...
You can't be serious...? Wow, so you don't laugh at certain things and or have a rough spot in your life or what-have-you and all of a sudden you have an "emotional disorder"... Well, there is your answer acid, start labeling yourself with a disorder and eat some meds .. god forbid you don't laugh at lame ass jokes...
I'm very serious. I never suggested to anyone to take medications. And obviously he is having some problems emotionally...an emotional disorder could be an explanation as well as many other things. So mystical broom, please do be so pretentious.
Haha, pretentious? Hmmm, sure... Do you know how somewhat ridiculous it is to assume that one has an "emotional disorder" just because they don't find some things humorous or because they are having a down time in their life..? Aren't we all human, don't we all go through phases..? It's the first thing you mentioned, a disorder, that is all I am really saying.. And is just my opinion, just like yours is...That is all...to each their own.. Haha, but thanks for calling me pretentious, that was rather comical and I enjoyed it... But you could have done better trying to make fun of my name.. Perhaps next time...
LOL. Ok, Mystical shroom I respect you for taking what I did as humor...I got a laugh out of it as well. Agreed, to each his own. But I still stand by what I said. Re-read the opening post and see if you can agree with me a little. If not, please give me a reason you think explains a loss of humor...keep in mind his insecurities and his introverted narrative.
too much pot = no attention span = can't comprehend things and thus cannot find things funny also possible: severe lack of imagination. take steven wright, the comedian, for example. people who don't find him funny probably make no attempt to / are unable to visualize his jokes and/or are somehow too stupid to understand them (which i truly find sad and disturbing)
I understand what you are saying and me assuming you meant him taking meds was my fault...But to me a disorder would be a bit extreme for a loss in humor, but who knows, I certainly don't (this is more than obvious)...I think the OP knows deep down why perhaps..
